First of all, I will not start a huge rant about Drew Bledsoe. He played as hard as a he could. Anyone who takes that kind of punishment and pressure would have ended up doing the same thing. My only problem here is the fact that we do not realize we will not be able to give Drew the environment that he needs to succeed. All teams that can put pressure on our QB (Bears, Giants, Panthers, and Falcons) will be able to adversely affect our offense. The Drew experiment is not going to work. We have to understand that and move forward. I guarantee that Troy Aikman can still make all the throws better than Bledsoe but can not play the game anymore. It takes much more than a great arm to play quarterback. It’s time for Romo, not because Drew is so horrible, but because he may give us a better chance to win. As I said on my show, every game that Drew gets this kind of pressure, it shows up in a horrible passer rating. This year is showing the same trend. This year his rating was 45.8 vs. the Jaguars and 33.1 vs. the Eagles. This is not a rush to bench Bledsoe because he sucks or anything like that….but the numbers do not lie. Look them up yourself.

Next, I’m sure that I was yelling at Parcells much more than I was yelling at Bledsoe. In fact, I don’t think I yelled at Bledsoe at all. I am sick of this “old school” “Vince Lombardi” type play calling. It was fine when we were trying to beat better teams, but now, we are the better team with far more talent than almost every opponent. We need aggressive play calling! The Eagle kept attacking us over the top with a rookie and a second year receiver. We refused to attack with our expensive weapons. Trust me, Terry Glenn was just as frustrated as T.O. but there weren’t 87 cameras on HIS every move.

Lastly, I have never liked Zimmer and could have almost jumped through the screen when he called that corner blitz on that 86 yard touchdown. I play Madden and if I see a corner blitz, I’m going to throw it long to the side that the blitz is coming from because I have a wide out on a safety. Advantage offense. Also, you put a rookie safety in an unbelievably tough situation.

Just my initial thoughts! We should have won and could have won but, shoulda’s and coulda’s piss me off more than just getting a beat down.

I think you are very close to dead on with that report. Blitzing Newman in the first half didn't work, so why blitz a slower CB later and leave a kid out there?

I agree with most of what you're sayin' Shango, but to say that we should have been more aggressive on offense... what?

That makes no sense to me. We had no time to attack downfield, and when we did, Bledsoe just held onto the ball and stood there.

Can't fault Parcells if Bledsoe doesn't get rid of the damn ball.

Truth is, we should have run alot more. Close to 150 yards on the ground and we held the ball for 37 minutes, and still lost. Really think we should have tried to run it in at the end there.

I have found a beleiver....this is a brilliant post. We have playmakers on both sides of the ball...yet we don't take the training wheels off of them. It drives me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree with the fact that i would have been happier with a beat down from the eagles than with a loss due to beating ourselves.

When you have a team that beats itself, you lose games even to inferior opponents. That is what is so upsetting, i foresee many more games slipping away like this one unless something is done.

If beldsoe cant get out of the way (and he cant), and the oLine cant be expected to pick up blitzes (though there were some pretty well designed ones in there)....then the team has to develop some kind of immediate release valve for bledsoe so he can get rid of the ball without taking time to survey the field.

that is what is maddening, just keep sending him up there to drop back and get bullrushed. If the defense brings the house, you cant blame the Oline, they cant block more defenders than there are bodies, so the qb has to get out of the way or make the hot read and get rid of the ball. But it seems loike bledsoe still looking to go downfield even as the pocket is collapsing.

LOL Shango. I just watched your show for the first time ever. Good stuff! I was dying over here when you cussed out Coward Haynesworth. I'll look forward to this week's post Eagles game show. :D

I especially like the "Romo Watch" sign in the background... hilarious.

Your initial thoughts in this thread are spot on too. Good read.

If we don't have time to attack vertically.....then what? There has to be a change because you need that type of aggressiveness in your offensive plan.

The run was working all day! We were a little predictable at times (3rd and 1) but we should have run more effectively. I agree!

Dallas took one real shot downfield. The result was a huge PI. Doesn't anyone wonder what would have happened if Dallas took a few shots when their wasn't a minute left in the game?

When they send the house on P. Manning, he throws it to the hot reciever and kills you. We had to know when they were coming...Hell, I knew when they were coming.

You can't throw it downfield when half the defense is hanging on you.

Yes, I do very much because it was an entire game dominated by big plays. They had more than us.

Mcbriar's fumble
The Flea Flicker
Lito's INT
LJ Smith's TD

Huge swings because of those plays. We played steadier than they did overall, they exploited opportunities a lot better.

A little more running and a short passing game would have kept the D more honest. Then we could go over the top. They just opened the flood gates all day. The worst part about this is that all of our losses tend to have the same script. It's frustrating!

I knew when they were coming too, every time we snapped the ball. :(

I dont think it was a brilliant game plan by johnson. I think it was desperation, blitz the heck out of them evry play and see if bledsoe makes more bad decisions than good ones.
