“I am — every year — preparing myself to coach,” Gruden told PewterReport.com. “Sometimes I show up at (a training) camp, and I show up in the offseason, and people let me coach. I jump in drills and they still let me install plays and call plays at some places. I still have a lot of fun.

"I haven’t lost the itch, though. I miss the players. I won’t deny that. I don’t want to start anything, but I say the same thing to everybody. There are very few passions in my life. The man upstairs, family and football.”

He's waiting for the Dallas, Pittsburgh, or Green Bay jobs to come open.

And only if a QB is in place.
I remember at an old general football forum I used to post at Bucs fans used to complain about how awful he was with Simms.

He is not a guy thats been known to develop young QB's

Gruden has always intrigued me because I like his hard-nosed attitude but not sure he would be a fit in Dallas. When, not if, Garrett gets fired, I would like another defensive head coach to take his place......that leaves out Gruden for me.

Doubtful.

Dude is making good money being a commentator at ESPN. Why give that up to be held to gawdly expectations and go back to working 24/7 for a good part of the year?

Maybe ESPN is still looking to cut salaries and he is preparing for a change?

Perhaps. However, it seems like he is popular on ESPN for their football coverage. Seems like most of their cuts have been for writers and not so much the talking heads, but of course that can change if they keep on tanking.

Some of their biggest cuts have been on air personalities.

Their cuts have been on expensive writers who don't move the needle, you're right. Some of the talking heads also got the axe, but its a changing of the guard -- too expensive for mediocre product. They can get younger, cheaper, and more controversial with different voices.

ESPN will do well over time...they've needed to innovate for a while. Guys like Chris Berman are now where they belong: doing one event a year like the Hall of Fame, not on TV every Sunday (I think).

I think they will eventually right the ship, and getting new blood will probably help. They probably need to re-find that balance between entertainment and covering sports. IMO
Not feeling that show at 6pm. Actually like the two hosts, but too much rambling at times over sports drama.
Feels like over a hour, they'll cover 5 topics lol.

The price they charge too is crazy.

I stand corrected. Must of missed some of the on air cuts.

ESPN needs to go back to only showing highlights of all the sports and keep one day to the NFL like Mondays. Stop with the stupid talk shows and opinionated pieces regarding anything from sports to politics. Get back to the old days.....

I love Michael and Jemele as hosts, but the production suffers. Their mid-day show His & Hers was WAY better. I think a format change and better direction with production could make the show a lot of fun - they have excellent chemistry and good rapport with tons of athletes and coaches.
