Just saw it on Hanson. They made a cold call to him while coaching in Washington at his HS and he accepted. He is also bringing some of his coaches and his son who has thrown 55 TD's.

Gotta love Texas HS football.

Interesting... I guess DFW really grew on Kitna... he seems to really go out of his way to come back

That's amazing....the cold call working like that.
I've heard he's very financially secure and just likes being able to be a positive role model.
Probably helps having his son as a prospect too.

Well, now the trip to back up Romo is about a 30 minute drive or so, as opposed to a 4 hour flight.....

Why not South Lake Carroll - or - Allen.....

I think those two programs are pretty set. With Allen winning two state titles in a row, and Southlake what with 5 or 6 state titles.

Because he's not a seasoned coach. He has very little experience to draw on, other than his relationship with coaches in his career.
He also knows nothing about the local competition, and would be something of an insult to those who have spent more than half of their lives in Texas HS football.

Granted, he's a smart guy and has played at a high level for years, but history is full of ex-stars who failed as coaches. In fact, most top coaches were "scrappers" as players -- guys who were not necessarily expected to excel or dominate, but got by on guts, knowledge, and determination.

I wish him all the best, but his mere presence will not guarantee instant success.
