Cooper looked good, but I'm not sure if call him the real deal just yet. I'm still more intrigued with Green at LG. He's a mover, but just can't stay healthy at all. Not saying I don't like Cooper, I do, but he's still not the same player who came out of college. Yes the injury bug derailed a lot of that. But IMO if Green can overcome his injury issues I think he is the far superior player.

Man, sorry I missed the original thread.

Here's my apology regarding Jonathan Cooper.

If we play the Colts every week, he'll be an All-Pro...lol
Okay, that was just for fun.

Watching Cooper, I realized that my love for the mauling tenacity of Ron Leary got in the way of
evaluating this man. I saw quickness and technique from Cooper. It is my opinion that he is better
in pass protection than Leary was/is. And, while he may not plow over three defenders with one hulk punch,
Cooper is smooth in the run blocking game. He does well sliding from one level to the next and his quick feet
allow him to get to his spot as a pulling guard. His play at Center was also impressive.

He looks like he's fully recovered from injury. Good for him.... and us!
I officially give my Seal of Approval.

I think the way Ron Leary "got it" after working w/ this Oline, having the full off-season, it may be clicking for Cooper now too.

Weeks 1 & 2 will be major tests for him... I just hope he can start to realize that potential he had coming out of college.

Some folks are saying "It was the Colts" well...he did against a team like the Colts what a good OLineman should do against a team like the Colts. He SHOULD push a LB back 10yds beind the LOS to open a gaping hole for the RB.

maybe against a better team he only pushes him back 5yds from the LOS and the hole isn't gaping but good enough... either way, the potential showed

Colts have Jonathan Hankins who the Giants had last year even we struggled some......Cooper handled him with ease
