I always thought pretty much the same thing. Didn't mind them opening on the road. Gets a road gam out of the way. And may increase the season endin with a home game. Even though it didn't last year.

It would be interesting to go back and look at the past schedules to see. However, I don't think it matters alot. Seems Dallas gets more road games in December. Maybe because they get the Thiansgiving Day game. So they offset it with at least 2 road games, if not 3 in December.

Also I think the NFL is trying to make an effort [for once] to avoid 3 straight home or away games, as it seemed they did many times in the past.

That's part of it. We get back to back home games for Thanks and the week before.
They almost always send us on the road for week 14 off the 10 days rest to avoid 3 straight home games.
This is an advantage for us. It's also the 1st week in Dec. No chance to have 3 straight home to finish the season after that. That would be 5 of 6 at home to finish.
So we'll never get 3 of 4 at home in Dec. More likely to get 3 or 4 on the road.

You just have to hope to get 2 home December games.

Such a shame we failed last season. From a scheduling stand point, 2008 was a dream season. We really got almost every minor advantage I hope for each year.

1) We opened on the road against a weaker team.
2) We got our bye week late.
3) And it's sandwiched between to road games.
4) We get out toughest road game after Thanksgiving on 10 days rest.
5) The one time we get stuck with back to back road games without a bye, the 2nd road game is against one of the worst teams in football. (Rams)

I'm hoping for all this a few extras for 2009.

1) No prime time road games.
2) No cold weather games in December. We unfortunately have 6 potential cold weather road games. I'm hoping we get to play them all by week 11. I'll take NO week 14 after Thanksgiving on 10 days rest and at TB in week 16. In particular don't want Romo to go to those wind tunnel stadiums in NY and Phila after mid November.

Here's my perfect schedule.

@ KC
H NY.......Sunday Night
@PHI
H WAS......Monday Night
@GB
H ATL
@NY
H PHI.....Sunday Night
@DEN
BYE
@WAS
H SD
H OAK......Thanksgiving
@NO
H CAR......Saturday Night
@TB
H SEA......Sunday Night

I'd prefer SD on Thanks and OAK the week before, but that's already set.

You know, that might be a very underrated aspect to check out when the schedule comes out..I really hope we play AT Philly either in August or September and AT New York around November and save the Atlanta and Tamp game for weeks 14 and 16..
