- BRENT CONFIDANTE: There was another special visitor at Saturday's practice, Cowboys confidant David Wells. Wells has helped troubled Cowboys players for years, mentoring the likes of Michael Irvin, Nate Newton, Dez Bryant, and most recently, Josh Brent. Wells has been with Brent ever since his release from rehab, and has helped him take the necessary steps to attempt an NFL comeback. Could his presence at practice be just a friendly visit? Or is he there to discuss Brent with the Cowboys higher-ups? Let the speculation begin.

With the scrubs they have been bringing in to help out in the last week, a return by Brent doesnt seem far fetched.

Any TV producers out here? This could be a cool "reality" show on a guy like Wells being a former bond agent and working to rehabilitate professional football players and what struggles there are etc... He's worked with some big names.

To add to it ^, as much as I hate Jerry Jones, the one thing that I love about him is how he keeps these young guys with problems around and never turns his back on them. His door has been and will always be open to them and that is the way it should be.

Yeah, most people hate on it, because they would not be able to do it themselves. That's the ONE thing I respect about Jerry. Not to say he won't cut bait if it never turns around (Pacman.)

How long has it been since this guy even played?

This defense needs guys who can play right now.

I really wish someone could read Roger Goodell's mind because his thoughts are the only matters of importance concerning Josh Brent.

Apparently (according to the FAN) he is meeting with Goodell today

Glad he'll get his opportunity to speak with the commissioner. I have my own thoughts about Goodell's ultimate decision about his reinstating Brent and want to see how closely they'll match to the real deal.

The instant Goodell lets him come back, Jerry will have him on the team. You can bet that. He and Stephen have made that clear.
How soon? That is the $64,000 question.

There is nothing resembling guarantees for Josh Brent. He's due to meet with Goodell first and may or may not be saddled with a suspension upon his possible bid to return. Depending on how that goes, even if he's allowed to make a comeback bid soon, the fact that he's been out of football for so long wouldn't do anything to solidify his chances for a successful return. He would also be obliged to compete with several promising youngsters at the DT position who have shown considerable potential to stick around. Brent's attempt to return and avoid the Turk when the final cuts are made would surely render him anything but a shoe-in to make a successful return to the Cowboys' roster. As it is, before he left for prison, he wasn't exactly setting the world on fire back then. The road back for him appears to be strewn with many obstacles. If he somehow manages to make it back, he'll definitely have earned it.

Even to the point of saying a roster spot belongs to him if reinstated.

Re: Goodell's terms of reinstatement.

Maybe half the year when he can triumphantly return along with Lawrence to lead the March to Arizona.
