There's a reason why Roger Goodell hasn't reinstated Josh Gordon yet, and it has to do with a recent misstep that has muddled the process for Gordon.

The suspended Cleveland Browns wide receiver, who missed the entire 2015 season after testing positive for alcohol, failed an NFL-administered drug test last month, sources have told FOX Sports.

Gordon's sample, which was collected in early March, tested positive for marijuana and dilute, according to a source informed of the results of the test. The source added that both the "A" and "B" samples collected were positive for marijuana and dilute. Though the level of marijuana was below the 35 nanograms per milliliter required for a positive test, the diluted sample is considered a positive test.

agree and if I had millions on the line would stay clean but lets look at the bigger picture.
Its pot. It hurts noone. These are 20 something YO kids. There was no way I would have stopped at that age either.
Its becoming legal in more and more states because there was no reason it should have been illegal in the first place and is less dangerous than alcohol.
This kid will lose millions because of this stupid test

It isn't the stupid test. It is the stupid person that consistently puts himself in position to fail the tests. There are plenty of potheads in the NFL that know how to work the system. They never get busted. Gordon has been busted everywhere he has been.

I agree. I think it's ridiculous how marijuana is viewed in this country. We seem to be late to the party on a lot of issues. Looks like we're finally coming around on weed. I don't even like it, to be honest. Not really into smoking of any kind. But I've done it and it's ridiculously safe compared to alcohol. (But that's another discussion.) I don't know how marijuana addiction works, to be honest. I know people who've dealt with addiction and it's not easy to stop, even if you need to. So I don't want to say Josh Gordon is an idiot. Maybe he has a serious addiction and needs help. But then again, I haven't read anything that says you can get seriously addicted to weed. It really needs to be reevaluated by the NFL. There's no reason DUIs should get a pass over smoking weed.

agree but again its pot.I dont smoke much any more either but in my 20's everyone did fairly often and without thinking about it. Guess I'm upset cause it would surprise noone if we read tomorrow one of our players failed a test for pot and will have to serve a 4 game suspension or worse. stop testing for pot. It hurts nobody and is an archaic rule that has to be changed.

Not to mention a rule is a rule. Whether or not it should be tested is irrelevant. The fact is it is tested for. His options are the same as everyone else. Either find a job where they don't test, or stop. People like to mention how it's legal in more and more states, but jobs still test for it in most those states regardless of the legality of buying or using it. I had to quit for a job as have hundreds of thousands of people. Most did it for a hell of a lot less than he was making. He gets no sympathy from me.

i think its dumb too because its not performance enhancing, and you can get smoke it in a legal place. why the punishment for something that is legal and doesnt give any advantage in sports?
