He is not going to get 5M. It will likely cost them 750K for RoMc.

I understand but you figured when they signed him they had to feel pretty good about him. I know it's a "safe contract" but still it's a bad signing. He's undependable. They still factored his 5 million into their salary cap. It should've been used elsewhere .

As much as my need for immediate gratification wants us to pursue every big-name free agent, I actually love our newfound approach to not fall prey to that approach.

But we've got to nail the draft. No way around it. And while we have been very successful in the first round, it's been tough sledding thereafter.
yap, if we don't continue drafting better then the new financial prudence will not be prudent.

Arz: Palmer, Valdeer, that Somoan OG from SF
GB: Peppers,Guion
NE: Bennet , Shread ,Chung
Sea:Bennett , Avril
Car: Ginn,Olsen , Coleman

Us: Carr, Thorton? (Seems bad today)

I said big money not any FA. And Peppers has never lived up to that contract and has probably steered them away from spending more in FA. Anyway you look at it that's a pretty slim list of FA contributors on major contenders.

You pretty much gave a perfect example of us giving a bust contract in FA though.

Same place they got the money to re-sign Mo, Jack and pay Mayowa and Thornton. PUT all those dollars together and FO could have bought ONE very good pass rusher.

Or hell, bring back Hardy while keeping those mouth breathers.

So instead of signing 4 different guys you'd rather them waste that money on one guy and the defense would still suck? Especially since whoever that was would probably be backing up Gregory or Lawrence when they get back? I guess........

With what money?

We had the money to sign either of them. Neither Ayers or Williams signed crushing contracts. Both signed deals that allow their teams to cut them after one year with minimal damage.

So please don't use the "we can't sign them because they will prevent us from signing Martin" BS.

Gregory isn't an every down DE. Stop the nonsense, please. This team absolutely could have used a guy like Williams or Ayers at DE and they could have afforded them.

It's embarrassing the length some will go to defend the front office. We have a bottom third NFL defensive line right now. And even when Lawrence comes back, it's still not a good situation at DE.

Its not about defending this front office its just the criticism you guys give. You're telling me you watched these linebackers yesterday and the first thing that comes to your mind is "You know.....we sure missed Mario Williams yesterday"....we could've used his concussion and sack he had yesterday. I don't agree with that notion. The things you guys focus on and complain about are just mind boggling to me after a loss. You lose by 1 yesterday and you get posts saying we should've traded up for Wentz......should've signed Robert freakin' Ayers.....yikes.

I don't care who they should've signed. They have guys out there that they pay to play and they need to be better. Sean Lee needs to be better. We need more plays from Crawford. We need more from everybody out there and no addition of Robert freakin' Ayers is gonna change that.

Oh LB is a problem as well. Other than Lee, it's a wasteland. Hitchens is a nice flex guy, back up guy, but he's not a starting LB in this league.

And this isn't about one loss. I've been saying for months they did a poor job of addressing the DE position. Yesterday was just the first example in proving that. This team is going to struggle to get to the QB like it did last year. You asked if there were cheaper options out there that could have improved what is a poor situation? There were options. You just choose to poo poo them because like you often do, you toe the company line.

So the premise of the thread is: "We're not keeping up with the Joneses?" We ARE the Joneses.

If your options are Robert freakin' Ayers than we didn't have many options to begin with...............Ayers would've been right out there with the rest of this mess yesterday. You and everyone else that has seen this team knows it. Greg Hardy followed right in line with the rest of the lack of pass rush last year.

Ayers and Williams are better than what we put on the field (Williams would have been my first choice). So yes, they would have been an upgrade. And I am not even talking about one game. Because what you saw yesterday is going to likely continue for more than one game this season. So yeah, I think the defense would be better with Mario Williams playing DE than say, J. Crawford, especially in the first four games.

But keep deluding yourself into thinking what the Cowboys did at DE was smart.

Ok top 5 teams power rankings in the NFL.com Arizona, Seattle, New England, Carolina, and Green Bay. Name one guy on any of those teams that those teams have not drafted that they have given a big contract to.
they draft better.......I see you left off DEN with Ware, Harris, Talib, safety I can't remember

Eagles fans Wentz is God

Eagles fans dak didn't look good

We played a damn good defense they played the Browns lol
Most fans and radio guys up here said nothing bad about Dak. The only comment that one might take as a negative is that they are saying Wentz has a bigger arm. After seeing both play, Wentz does have the arm to make all the throws. I don't know if Dak does.
