Honestly the sound bite doesnt mesh with his full statement. He said anybody can do that when they have that much time, and went on to compliment Dak and his progression as a player, and complimented the OL indirectly.

Its Norman so everyone assumes the worst but he sounds like a decent sport this time.

Lost under the inflammatory headline was the rest of Norman's quote:

“At the end of the day, he’s been playing well. As you can see, he’s evolved. He’s growing in the system."

Such disrespect! :muttley:

Correct. People should read the entire statement instead of just reacting to the snippet taken out of context.

Anybody can do that, though? Not even true and clearly an attempt to downplay the accomplishment. I don't really care, though. Dak threw 3 TDs to Coop on Thanksgiving. Was Josh on the field then? The o-line wasn't as good last year either. Bring on the game.

Josh Norman on Dak Prescott: “Anybody can do that”

Michael David Smith,ProFootball Talk on NBC Sports

Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott completed 25 of 32 passes for 405 yards and four touchdowns in Week One, but Washington cornerback Josh Norman was not impressed.

Norman, who will face Prescott on Sunday, credited the Cowboys’ offensive line for giving Prescott plenty of time to throw, and said there’s nothing special about playing the way Prescott played when you have time to wait for a receiver to get open.

“You stand back there in the pocket all day and go through your first, second and third reads and come back to your first one, OK, cool. Anybody can do that,” Norman told the Associated Press. “At the end of the day, he’s been playing well. As you can see, he’s evolved. He’s growing in the system. He’s just taking his keys and picking his targets and throwing the ball on time.”

Prescott became just the third player in NFL history to record a perfect 158.3 passer rating while throwing more than 30 passes in a game. It’s safe to say not just anybody can do that.
I disagree with the way he characterized how Dak was playing. He made it seem like Dak was just sitting there. No he wasn't. I wish there was a timer on when he hiked the ball to when he threw the ball. It had to be around three seconds or less. He was faking a handoff and as soon as he got set he was throwing the ball. Unless you had a clean rush you had no chance to sack him he was getting the ball out of his hand very fast. So so sit there and act like he was just standing back there for 5 seconds or something until something came open and he was just looking ok ver the field from left to right wasn't true.

There was. His average time to throw was 2.5 seconds. 8th fastest in the league in week1. The narrative that Norman espouses that Dak was "sitting back there" is simply wrong. He might have been going through all 3-4 reads and back, but he was doing so very, very quickly, and often before the ball was snapped.

The biggest challenge the skins present is their DL. They avg 3.33~ sacks per game vs. Dak @Wash, and last year sacked him 4x in each game. And now they've added 1st rounder Montez Sweat. However, Allen probably won't be playing so that helps the run game. And we all know La'el Collins for whatever reason struggles mightily vs. Kerrigan. Manusky will likely blitz Dak early to get them off schedule and attempt to disrupt Dak's and Moore's flow. Hopefully it doesn't work.

This is a fair and reasonable point. Norman wasn't wrong about Dak benefitting from great blocking last week, but he also was not sitting in the pocket and waiting and waiting until someone came open. He was dropping back, trusting his reads and letting the ball go.

He is pretty spot on. Oline is the key to an offense. The 2nd half of his comments were also spot on.

He's got a point.

That performance gets less impressive by the day.
