The last corner I was this impressed with was Neion Deion when he joined us as a FA. I'm not saying Jourdan is Deion..... I'm saying this guy is impressive! His tackling is old school textbook. His coverage skills are extraordinary. :flagwave:

So who's spot will he eventually take before long? I just don't see how he comes off the field really...

Does he take my boy OScan's spot or does he bump Brown?
It's a very limited sample size, but he looks better than all of them.

They play 3 CBs over 80% of the snaps.

He goes straight for the legs, notice that? I've never seen anybody back there for us that can run in and avoid the stiff arm and just take a ball carrier straight down by the legs. It's a fantastic tackling ability in a league where too many guys still try to arm tackle up high.

I've been watching this kid since high school and said before the season started that as soon as he was healthy enough to step on the field, he would have instantly be one of our 3 best CB's. He has always reminded me of Terence Newman with both his frame and play style. He won't get you a ton of picks but he will break up plenty of passes, stick to a receivers hip pocket and is a sure tackler. I fully expect him to be our #2 corner at some point this season.

I'm surprised at the Newman comparison and your suggestion that Lewis "won't get you a ton of picks". His ball skills, unlike Newman's, seem excellent.

Agreed. I get really tired of watching corners lower their heads to take the runner's legs out only to whiff. Lewis wraps them up and takes them down. Those of us who played football in grade school would remember learning this. I have no idea how players manage to forget this somewhere between high school and the NFL.

He had good coaching in college, but more than that it takes real courage go tackle properly IMO. Especially a smaller guy like that. All it takes is one shot to the head from a knee and it's concussion city. I like JL's ability...why wouldn't I? But he is somewhat injury prone thus far, and had some issues in college. We will see. I was watching a Cinci game last week and saw PacMan Jones out there. Physically, he reminds me of Pac without the top end speed. IF he can last 1/2 that long I'd be satisfied. Pac is a bonehead but he's tougher than a $3 steak.

He got beat badly by Fitz in the endzone for what should've been a wide open TD, but that's a future hof WR so i expected that to happen at some point. The progression from his 1st game to his 2nd was amazing and he will only get better.

I have high hopes for him...he will get picked on, being a rookie...I LOVE Awuzie, and can't wait to see him on the field...if Woods pans out and White can get off of the PS and on to the team, then the secondary draft in April could look like one of the more spiffy ones in a long while, and yes, I am being defensive in my thoughts :)
