I was under the impression when they played their game they still had an outside shot at making the playoffs.

Nonetheless, there's a difference between a top 5 pick and a top 10 pick. Especially when we need Romo's eventual replacement. The Falcons have Ryan. I can't speak for everyone, but the main reason I want a top pick is so we don't end up how we did post-Aikman. If we already had that guy I wouldn't be as happy with losses.

While I understand the concern, I don't like that line of thinking because it sounds like you have us locked into drafting a QB no matter what with our pick.

Only if the value is there. If not, I'd prefer to trade down for future picks that could then be used to move up in future drafts that have a quarterback the scouts like.

I don't want us reaching like we did for Quincy out of desperation, but if a guy is there we like we need to do whatever it takes, within reason, to make sure we land him.
