Not to beat a dead horse, which it pretty much is since he's not on our team anymore, but i'm so glad we didn't resign Julius. I was as huge a believer in Julius as anyone after his stellar rookie season, at least the part in which he was healthy.

However, it became quite evident to me by his second year that it wasn't Parcells or any coaching that had to do with his lack of success. It was the fact that he was only ever good on a draw play. I started watching all his good runs, and what do you know, draws and delays.

I went back and watched him in college and it was the same thing. Clearly he doesn't have great instincts, but is a bit shifty when he has the whole field in front of him, like he does on a draw where he can have stuff set up and then just take off and not have to hit the hole and make a guy miss.

I think it was why he was such a good return man in college too because he would have the field in front of him. A punt return is like a big draw play in some respects.

Anyway, he obviously didn't have what it takes to be a top notch runner, so I say good riddance, and hopefully we will find a change of pace back in the draft who can do a better job.

And you are an NFL personnel expert where?

Well I hope he is a Superstar for at least 1 year so we can get a better compensatory pick.

Pile Magnet is gone, who cares?...Whatever he may or may not do in Seattle or anywhere else is irrelevant, IMHO...We saw what he 'could' do here and that was find the pile and magnetize himself to it :thumbdo:

Good riddance

Is performance factored in? Is it based on playing time as a starter with the previous team or with the new team and or performance on one or the other.. or salary..?

What exactly are the factors? I was always curious.

Responsibility lies all around. Part of it is Jone's inability or lack of skill (ankle tackles anyone?!), the other part is the coaching staff's inability to capitalize on his strengths.

Why was he never tried out as a punt returner? Why wasn't he utilized more in sweeps and draws? Why didn't we throw to him in the flats? I fully expected a better year from Jones with the acquisition of Garrett, who is supposed to be an offensive wunderkind. But this did not materialize and Jones was used to spell Barber (which still worked great, and I wouldn't have been angry if it continued this year).

I'm not using the "robot" excuse, I'm just saying you can't use a Shaun Alexander or a Tiki Barber as a Jerome Bettis "Bus" back and expect them to perform well in that role. Jones was at his best with the keys to the hotrod, but we usually put him in front of that big school bus steering wheel.

While I really do want to agree with you, but there is always that thought. The thought that JJ might turn out to be one of the best RBs next season and somehow we meet Seattle in the playoffs and he does really well against us. I have to admit that I would be PO.

Why PO'd?...Do you really think he didn't get a fair shot here in big D to show what he could do?...There were probably ways we could've gotten more production out of him (Screens) but I can't see a scenario where Dallas didn't unearth some hidden potential in Julius that will be discovered elsewhere...IF he flourishes elsewhere, it won't be because he didn't get a shot here to do it.

I'd feel the same if Roy Williams flourished elsewhere, good luck to him...I wouldn't want him back either if that happened...We all can see what we've been getting out of that lot...Nada

I agree. i really want to see what JJ can do in seattle.. I had alot of hopes for the guy when he came out of ND, then he got to dallas and Parcells turned the guy into a robot.

The best we ever saw from Julius was when he had a big hole to run through, when there wasn't anyone there to tackle him, when there was a lot of real estate along the sidelines...I just don't buy this argument that he wasn't used properly...Who said he had to be Barber?...Isn't a RB supposed to be able to make cuts, break tackles or even find holes?...If their only purpose was to outrun everyone, Carl Lewis would've made a fine RB for us after all.

JJ should contract himself out for picking up dog poo in peoples yards since he is so great at finding piles.

Given the success Jones has had playing aginst the Seahawks it is not much of a suprise that he ended up being signed by them. They have seen his best 1st hand. I wish him the best of luck in Seattle

Barca, take a look at the Monday Night game vs the Giants in 2004. That game alone makes all your claims look extremely stupid.

Well, gee, there's a logical argument...Look at how he did in one game in his rookie season (Where we were 6-10) and dismiss all those other games of pile driving....Yeah, I see how stupid that claim is

In 4 seasons, he averaged more than 4.5 yards per carry how many times (At least 15 carries)?...10...What's his career ypc?...3.9, slightly better than his ypc for 07-08 at 3.6...But, hey, he had a few good games here so I'm sure that's the more accurate measuring stick of what kind of player he is. ;)
