Let's all face facts. Julius Jones is NOTHING SPECIAL. He can be replaced in the draft with relative ease. He will never be much more than adequate. This guy will never come close to ES or TD, he'll never be one of the greats---plus his contract is up. Time to move the guy in my opinion. One good run every 4 games or so, ain't cuttin' it. Plus he's dinged up far to often. Time to upgrade at the RB position. Dump JuJones now. Thoughts?

And besides we've got enough needs to spend all our current picks on and you want us to us a high round pick on Jones' replacement. Geez

If you mean trading way up to try and get a RB no thanks, if one happens to fall withen 2 or 3 spots or right to us, then sure if they really think the back available would be a strong imporvement over Jones. Remember if we trade jones and draft a back high, there is just as good of a chance that the new back will be worse as there is he'll be better.

We aren't going to get Peterson, so unless a second rounder is to be had for Jones, might as well wait until next year and let the cards fall where they will.

I think I couldn't be more tickled that you aren't our GM even if I had feathers in my underwear.

Sure thing buddy. Lets get rid of a guy who we know exactly what he can do and bring in a rookie.

I am for upgrading every position but Are you sure THIS draft has a guy that can replace him, cause I am not.

These threads need to stop

The thought that every RB in this Draft is better than Julius is just comical, because essentially that is what he is saying by claiming he can easily be replaced. None of these guys can bust. Forget the fact it is a WR & CB heavy draft, these RBs are the best in History. Ridiculous.

That would be true if this were another QB thread. At least he's broadening his topic scope, even if it has been beaten to death already by other members of the board.

If we were the Dallas Cowboys and didn't settle for mediocracy, then yea, I'd probably say yea we'd be looking at this point to upgrade the RB position after 3 failed years with our current experiement. But no, we're not the Dallas Cowboys. Or so the fans of mediocre, injury-prone talent would like you to think we're not. Who are we again? I mean the "JuJo is God" rants shouldn't be coming from a team with the historic-likes of Tony D and Emmitt to draw from.

Sure thing. Within the week, all 31 teams' GMs and owners will have a secret, impromptu teleconference for one sole purpose: they'll all agree to surprise Jerry Jones next month.

They say, "You knows what? I'ds pities Jones down thear ins Big D. He ain'ts gots no number one back. Let's alls not draft a singal running backer and let ol' Jerrah have his pick. What's says ya'lls? Alls in favour says, 'I's'. Alls opposed? GOOD! It's settled. Now let's alls us goes outsides and enjoy those dem collards and hamhocks 'lil Danny's fired up on his brands new FedEX grill. YEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAW!"

If I'm being honest, I have seen flashes of greatness, I don't know whether to blame it on the line, BP, injuries or what. I'm not for trading JJ, but if he were traded, I would'nt fall out and die.

Serious question for those wanting to trade Julius. (See how this can be asked in an EXISTING thread on the topic? Amazing huh?)

First let's set up some facts...

Last year this offense scored 425 points (2 points behind Chicago & Indianapolis, 3 points from 2nd in the NFL), was 3rd in rushing TDs in the NFL, 4th best at not fumbling and at not giving up fumbles, and 13th in the NFL in rushing yardage.

All of this despite a so so Offensive Line.

And now the hook...

Clearly what this offense is doing works, and we have now solidified our Offensive Line. Why is trading our leading rusher at the top of your list of things we absolutely have to do?

Wonderful question!

And one I haven't seen a remotely acceptable answer for.

Trading Jones opens up a hole and creates a need where one doesn't currently exist.

And what would it accomplish?

Bringing in that coveted 3rd round draft choice?

Pffft.

The tandem of Jones and Barber did a good job behind a less than stellar line.

With improved blocking, the combination should be even better.

No valid reason to trade Jones.

The only reason I am behind the thread starter is that, (who will remain nameless) is because IMO Barber and said rookie could handle the RB duties on the main basis of Julius wont get paid jack next offseason and will be handed his walking papers. And we have nothing to show for maybe 2 1000 yard seasons.

He was a flash in the pan, either injuries or whatever have already caught up to him but he will want waay too much money for a back in a two back system.

"Said rookie" can come in and do a better job than Jones huh?

Boy, I sure hope nobody drafts "said rookie" before the Cowboys can!

Maybe we should trade up for him?
