Can't wait to see him run against Tennessee and the Texans.

I'm sorry...
he just doesn't look the same.

He looks good and like he'll have a great season.
But I just can't seem to let go of the question, "where is the JJ we say his rookie year?"
He just hasn't run that fast since.
He looked like one of the biggest gamebreakers out there.
Now he's just a ballcarrier.

Hopefully these next couple of games, in addition to the wins we should get, I hope that JJ and Ware rack up the numbers.

in the last game against the Commanders he ran for 94 yards with 20 carries...That is the best he has ever done against the Commanders in terms of total yards... and the second best he has ever done in terms of yards per carrie.

Julius had over 100 yards in 3 games in his rookie year, and they came against weaker defenses of course. And each time it included him carrying the rock about 30 times.

Right now he is on pace for 1328 yards rushing. And while this assumes he will be healthy and play every game, it also assumes that the defenses we play will be as good against the run as washington and jacksonville. And I can tell you that they aren't...

Titans - 29th against the run
Eagles - 10th against the run (lost Kearse, so the defense is going to be less aggressive, that and we are the texans)
Houston - 22th against the run
NY Giants - 12th against the run (after playing philly and indy)
Carolina - 31st against the run
Washington - already beat
Arizona - 21st against the run
Colts - 27th against the run
Tampa bay - 32nd against the run
...

I am shocked at how good JJ has been running against some pretty good defenses.

I'm also encouraged by how well the line is blocking on some inside runs. Yeah, teams stop us and stop us, and then bam! A quick 15 yard gain.

Also, I would love to see JJ in some 3rd down situations, he would be great on Draw plays and screens.

he will get that 1,000 yard season this year

Why do people put so much into 1000 yards per season? That's an average of 62.5 yards per game. It's just not that big of a deal with a 16 game schedule.

Sarge it isn't the same milestone it used to be, but is still a good indication of what you have in a running back.

1600 yards means you're rushing a 100 yards per game, and that is pretty much elite.

1000 yards is the base definition of a good running back. Still most running backs don't get that much. At least without carrying the rock over 25 times per game.

When healthy I think Jones is a very good back. Hopefully he can stay injury free this season and show everyone what he is capable of.

Real deal? I haven't seen him prove such yet. This is his last year to prove something. I will give him this year to rush for 1,000+ yards. I would expect him to get 1,200+, but Parcells already said he shouldn't get more than 20 rushes a game.

1,000 yards or bust.

He looks better this year than last year. It appears he's following the plays better than his rookie year, but I'm not so sure whether or not that will help his production. The big thing is that they've got to get his carries up the middle to the right amount. I don't think he'll ever be a real good ball carrier on running plays up the middle....but I think he can be decent at it. In the Jags game they ran the ball up the middle 65% of the time, which was way too much. Against the Skins they ran up the middle 48% of the time, which is more ideal.

The one thing I've been happy about so far with him is that his pass receiving skills look much better.

I didn't expect him to do much against jacksonville (take away the TD and did nothing) and he suprised me against washington, because he never does anything. So does he look good, I guess when you consider who we played, but he should dominate the titans.

After 2 games Jones is ranked 11th in the league with 166 yards and 4.5 a carry. Still a long ways to go but if he can stay healthy I feel Jones will have a big season.

Limiting his carries to 20 a game isn't so bad. Right now he's averaging 18.5 carries a game. At this pace, he's on pace for 296 carries for 1,332 yards and 8 TD's.

If he did get his carries to 20 per game, he'd be on pace for 320 carries and 1,440 yards.

I agree. There was a time any time a pass went his way, I'd look away cuz it was so painful to watch. It seems Bledsoe feels more comfortable going to him in the passing game. I'll be very curious to see what his total yards (running and receiving) will be at the end of the year.

According to ESPN.com, they're projecting him at 312 receiving yards. I think his receiving can be higher, but I wouldn't be unhappy with those numbers.

we have all been down this road before so lets hold the optimism. If you wanna judge what type of back Jones is....look at how he plays in philadelphia which will be a hostile crowd in hostile conditions.
