Nice start to his career. If you compare him to Dorsett and Smith....

The injuries have definetly hurt his numbers.

Julius Jones

21 | 454 1812 4.0 12 | 52 327 6.3 0

Tony Dorsett

G | Att Yards Y/A TD | Rec Yards Y/R TD |

Emmitt

G | Att Yards Y/A TD | Rec Yards Y/R TD
32 | 606 2500 4.1 23 | 73 486 6.7 1

His yards per attempt could use improvement....
so could our run blocking. JJ really needs to play the full year next year if we are going to have success.

Outside these numbers you can't overlook the question that JJ had that neither Emmitt or Tony had. That is, is JJ a injury waiting to happen? I don't care if he rushed for 200 yrds a game but was only healthy for 8 games he's not benefiting us at all. He has to stay healthy then lets look at the numbers.

One thing I noticed about JJ that really makes him not quite up to par with the other guys is this. HE GETS HAMMERED! The other 2 were known for never really taking a big shot and always sensing when to duck out or lay out punishment. JJ on the other hand gets killed on every other play. This could have something to do with the line, but watch some of the games, he accelerates so fast that he loses the ability to avoid the big hit very often. I feel bad for him and because of this, I don't think he'll be able to avoid the so called "Injury bug" that plagues him. I hope it changes, but I doubt it.

JJ will be fine is the injury bug will just get lost.....and stay lost!

He didn't last year (when he played) - take the big hit that is.
He made fools of alot of guys trying to tackle him. I think BP scared the life out of him about fumbling and had the guy running too careful for his own good. BP hates the percentages in the gunslinger attitude in football, but I'd rather see Jones do what he does. The excitement in his game from last year was completely lost this season, even before the injury.

Too bad he's still something of a question mark at this point, I had my hopes up pretty high after last season.

He has one more year to prove he can stay healthy. Otherwise, no extension.

You are incorrect. I agree that he did make a lot of people miss, but when he did get hit, they usually were pretty good shots. I think he needs to talk to Tiki Barber about his change in holding the ball. Tiki has maintained his quickness without losing balance which is what JJ has done when he holds the ball with 2 hands.

I had heard that Tiki caried a football around with him in the offseason for a few months. People were always trying to knock it outta his hands.

Not sure if its true, but thats what I heard.

JJ has more yard then Dorsett or Smith in his first 20 games then each of them....Yes, good start.

But Parcells who the masses say needs to go and can't do sh** drafted him....

He also changed how he ran with it. They were showing it in the last game against the Raiders how he changed the angle of how he holds the ball so people can't knock it out from behind.

I think Paniolo22 makes an excellent point.
JJ takes far more direct hits than Tony or Emmitt. Even last year.

100% true. We must improve our run blocking and keep feeding JJ the rock. If we can improve run blocking, we will be scary.

Yep. ESPN showed the stat vs the Rams.

What they didn't show is that he played in 12 games less than Emmitt in 2 seasons and 10 games less than Dorsett.

Look, I'm a big JJ supporter, but he really gets one more year to prove that those injuries were flukes before the doubts completely take over my opinion of him.

20 games is 20 games....

I am not saying he is better at all then those 2 kegends just that the kid can be good.

They showed a first 20 game comparison.

I don't think they were trying to say he was better than either.

Emmitt had a lot better O line. Dorsett had a lot better O line.
