If the worst case scenario is that Dallas re-signs Julius Jones then I would say Dallas is in good shape when it comes to running back. I doubt it happens and Dallas appears to be in good shape to end up in better shape next season when it comes to the running back position. I just would not be overly disappointed if after all was said and done and Julius was still a Cowboy. Much worse things could happen.

Did he really? This is the first time i've heard this.

Pretty sure I read it here in the Daily Zone yesterday or today. Not going hunting for it though. And the story only said that they met together, nothing of any detail.

IIRC the blurb was about Parcells and Jones having dinner during the days leading up to the Combine.

But Marcus Vick might be available.

It's funny that you mention that. Marcus Vick reminds me of the state that the Dolphins are in. It's almost scary how much like the Cowboys they are when we hired Parcells. We didn't go 1-15 but we were awful. The Marcus Vick thing just reminds me of things that we would do when we were that bad.

However, we never had the opportunity to hand BP 44 Million worth of cap space either.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if Parcells, Sporano and Co, had that thing turned around quickly.

That is a good summation of Dallas pre-BP Although Dallas did not hand BP that much cap space, but they weren't in a bind by the time he took over. He had plenty of cap room each year in Dallas. Not the ridiculous amount of 44 million. Goodness that is a lot. You are right, they could get it turned around quickly.

I don't see Jones returning. He has lost the starting job and has seen his carries reduced. I think the best thing for him is a fresh start somewhere else. I could see Dallas offering him a modest contract but nothing more than that and I don't think Julius would be content with that.

There is one slight possibility: JJ has got to know that he impressed NO one this last season. Hudson Houck has a great reputation for O lines that run block well (lets face it ours does NOT). Maybe he might want to sign a one year deal in order to look better for another run at FA.
