June 1st cuts have kind of lost their signifigance in recent years because contracts are being drawn up with large roster bonuses due in March. This enables players to have a better opportunity to catch on with another team while there is still money to be spent.
Not to mention the new CBA allows teams to release players when free agency begins and then take the cap hit the same way they would've if they released a palyer after june 1st in the past.
Anymore, the only time you might see someone worth taking a flyer on is when a team drafts better at the position and allows the player to have a chance to catch on with another team.
