He takes Marijuana because he has a mental/bipolar disorder. I had a cousin who had issues with bipolar and its not pretty. Sure he may have done wrong smoking weed but its not as though he did it for fun, pleasure or glory. Its because he has a mental disorder and that marijuana helps to alleviate that pain.

Didn't he say he doesn't have a disorder?

My problem is not his smoking weed. My problem is his decision making process that caused him to smoke right before being tested at the combine. A guy that makes that stupid a decision with millions of dollars on the line just brings into question what sort of decisions he will make when just a one or two game suspension is on the line.

This is fair and the way I look at it as well. You have to live in reality.

He has denied having a mental illness. Apparently some teams shrinks thought that he did in the brief time they had to visit and told Ed Werder about it. He went on national TV with it of course.

lol, yes, self medicating is always a good option. and unless you are a physician who has treated him, you don't know if ay of this is true. maybe the issues he's having is a result of......smoking weed?

Nobody here has any medical evidence facts that he has a mental disorder. Because nbc and TMZ sports thinks so? Lets see the official medical diagnosis before we agree to such outrageous claims.

Hes a smart kid overall who made a very poor decision. Lets see how he responds to what happened, it most likely will be very positive.

I'm not a shrink but I don't think it's particularly fair to make a diagnosis like that based on the short type of meetings that happen throughout the interview process. I think it's doubly irresponsible for someone to go to Ed Werder with it.

Nobody is actually all that concerned with players smoking weed.

It's the fact that you would highlight such poor decision making in what amounts to a job interview.

Beyond that, the idiot the Broncos took had a weed incident at the beginning of the week.

Perhaps it's not just the weed that caused him to free fall.

Gregory admitted that he used to weed to cope with his anxiety. Which is NOT the same thing as having bipolar affective disorder. So in that respect Werder shouldn't have really commented on it.

I flat out don't care that he smokes weed. I care that he's dumb enough to get caught repeatedly smoking weed. I do think that if he is self medicating bipolar it makes me a bit less worrisome for him because then its possible that you can get rid of the thing that could cost him games when he gets proper treatment. If its not a mental thing I'm hoping he has the personal fortitude to drop the weed because he's going to keep getting tested frequently and randomly.

I think the positive thing here is that the Cowboys have an excellent support staff and program to help Gregory.

That definitely helps but its up to the individual.

It always is, of course. But on the same note it's a lot easier to learn to cope when you have support professionally and personally without the fear of being judged or stigmatized. I think dallas can create this type of environment for Randy to thrive.

We are talking about weed here..it's not like he robbed a liquor store or beat the hell out of his wife.

Relax..Hardy in my opinion is the loose cannon.

I'm tired of seeing it all over the internet and hearing it all over the radio. And this coming from someone who has never smoked weed in my life.

Marijuana is legal in a ton of places. In a few years it will probably be legal everywhere. It's already being taken out of the drug testing policies in corporate America. It's safer than alcohol and tobacco. It's also safer than all these guys being hooked on pain medicine.

Enough already with Randy Gregory is a drug addict, or a low life thug because he likes to smoke weed. Do you guys know the percentage of guys in the NFL, NBA, and NCAA who smoke weed. 90 % of the NFL is not in the drug program. Once they test a day or two before training camp, they never have to test again that year. These guys smoke weed, like we drink water. GET OVER IT ...

It's not the pot, per se, that causes me concern. It's the decision making ability. He failed several tests...knew he would be tested again...and lit up anyway. That's not very smart. It tells me that the consequence of not being allowed to play football wasn't a deterrent at all.

How bad does he want to play? Evidently, not bad enough to show good judgement.

You know what you call someone that does nothing but play ball and smoke weed?

Answer: Three quarters of the NBA.

I really feel that with the chronic injuries that come with football and other sports, the chronic will soon be decriminalized by all leagues. I would much rather have players toking up than getting addicted to oxy and percocet.

Something tells me when players start missing anywhere from 1/4 to the entire season for weed, that'll change.

Bottom line is that it takes guys off the field and a dude on the bench is useless.

It may be treated like alcohol at some point, but that too got a player suspended last year. Denver punter or kicker.

Everyone knows that any substance in excess is stupid. Being accepted by any of the leagues won't prevent the idiots from going overboard and ending up in the substance abuse program.

States rights vs Federal law. Which trumps the other? The pro-weed community seems to think each state has the right to defy federal law, but as long as the federal law is what it is, the NFL policy will frown on it's use. The policy is not changing because it can't under the current political climate. No matter how liberal your opinion is about the use of weed, it's just dumb to choose its use over making millions of dollars in the NFL.
