Just a reminder how fortunate we are with Dan Bailey

We suffered for a decade with the likes of kickers like Suisham, Cundiff, Cortez, Buehler, and more. Even Nick Folk, who was like Dan Bailey for a couple of years, also became terrible in 2009.

With Bailey, I now feel like Cowboys field goals are almost automatic. It's a great feeling.

And yet, look how many guys are in the top 50 on this list who started their career with the Cowboys (obviously Vanderjagt didn't start with us so he's left out)...
  • 01) Dan Bailey -- 91.509% -- With Dallas first 4 years (2011-present)
  • 14) Shaun Suisham -- 83.406% -- With Dallas first 2 years (2005-06)
  • 28) Rian Lindell -- 81.167% -- Began his career as a UDFA for Dallas in 2000, but never played a game for us. Eventually cut and went to Seattle that same year.
  • 30) Nick Folk -- 81.019% -- With Dallas first 3 years (2007-09)
  • 39) Richie Cunningham -- 80.000% -- With Dallas first 3 years (1997-99)
  • 49) Chris Boniol -- 78.528% -- With Dallas first 3 years (1994-96)
We have never had a problem finding talented kickers the past couple of decades. It's just that for some reason or another, they usually seem to flame out for us around their 3rd year. And then wind up finding continued success with another team.

But Bailey is currently in year 4. None of the other kickers in the top 50 made it to a fourth year for us. I hope he's with us for life.

I remember when Bailey came out of college, I think he was the best kicker. And went undrafted. Unreal, you'd think someone would at least spend a 7th rnd pick on the best kicker.

It took a few years but Nick Folk returned to form. Something must have been hampering him for a while. I believe he was injured.

We are watching one of the great ones, we should really sit back and savor his incredible talent as it is highly unlikely we will see his equal.

I don't know who everyone is talking about....when I see the kicking team line up, all I hear is "money"

Quad or hip bothered him, but not 100% sure on that. It did one of our K's. So they brought in others to compete.

Nice to have him on the team for sure. He could be our kicker for the next 10-15 years with the longevity kickers have. Seems like his leg gets stronger and stronger. He seems to be putting his kickoffs in the back of the endzone or even out of the endzone more often these days.

I was belly aching to my wife about past FG kickers the other night.

When he was up, I said watch this, right down the middle.

She said, he's cute.

Guy is great. In fact I think Dallas special team is a good strength of this team.
