Absolute best case scenario would have to be Henson, followed closely by Romo.
If Henson's starting next season that means that he finally gets it and Dallas has a "franchise" QB to build around. The same could be said for Romo but he simply doesn't have the physical talent that Henson does.
Favre, McNair .... whomever else merely delays the inevitable, growing with a young QB, much like how the Testaverde and Bledsoe experiments have hurt Dallas in the long run.
Exactly how I made my decision.
I would much rather already have the guy for the long run already on the team and signed than spend money or a draft pick, or both to acquire another retread or another unproven commodity.
I will also say that I'd want a QB exactly like Bledsoe as my backup regardless. I do trust the guy, I just want to build for the future. The long term means more.
Bledsoe = not building towards the future.
Favre & McNair = not building towards the future & spending FA money when other holes could be addressed.
Phillip Rivers = cost of draft picks & possibly cash. He is just as unproven as Henson, Romo, or a 2006 Draft pick.
Henson has more upside than Romo, but I'll support either guy who gets it done.
I do want to draft a QB in 2006, but the best scenario remains we already have the guy getting ready. The Draft pick is for the future. Keep the best 3 guys and play ball.
