Just for fun, or angst, who would you keep or cut?

If it were possible and you could cut or keep anyone you wanted, What players off of this team would you keep?

Dez, Tyron, Frederick, Murray, Free, Hatcher, Scandrick, Williams, Bailey, Beasley, Witten, Church(only if moved to LB), Moore, Harris, Bernadeau, (Holoman and Dunbar perhaps),

Thats it, everyone else would be gone either because of accountability, football IQ, durability or age....Gone are the "potential" guys or the guys you can't count on to play at least 12 games a year. Also gone are the guys who should be the backbone leaders of this team, but for one reason or another their time has passed.

Cutting any inexpensive players (players with "potential) before training camp would be stupid. There would be absolutely no benefit to doing it.

Ware and Austin need to go due to their salaries being drastically bigger than their production. Hatcher and Spencer need to be allowed to move on as free agents.

Romo, Carr and Lee must be restructured. It's not really an option to cut them based on the cap ramifications.

Witten's salary is reasonable and he should be restructured.

During/after training camp is the time to cut any other players that don't live up to their potential.

No Selvie? Crawford? Wilber?(only what 5 games at LB) Wilcox? (2nd year as a safety) Escobar? (Rookie) I think you are leaving off some good players who are going to be the next cornerstones of the team.

I'll say it again, it would be beyond stupid to cut those players.

so who is under center for you? hating on Tony doesn't mean that there is just ANYONE that could lead this team; and as others have said, you left off some good names

Do you see Spencer coming back? I don't think it would be smart to dump Spencer and Ware in the same offseason

There is a significant possibility that Spencer can't play again after the micro-fracture surgery. The Cowboys have had other players that had unsuccessful micro-fracture surgery. The safety from TCU as few years ago comes to mind, but there have been others.

Spencer is a free agent just like all of the free agents from other teams. There is no reason to focus on him.

The Cowboys need to sign YOUNG free agents. The probability of injury decreases as the average age of the roster decreases on average across the NFL.

agreed. must get younger....FA signings for the most part should be young guys with potential...I would say that there are exceptions such as waters, but they are the exceptions

They can't make plans in March/April/May based on Waters possibly joining the team again in August/September. Waters is just a nice insurance policy in the event of injuries coming out of training camp.

I agree, they SHOULD go into the draft thinking that Waters won't be there so t hat if he does show up, all the better...he proved that he could get back after a long lay-off and be very successful. I just love what the other guys absorbed from him...osmosis through drinking the Water(s), love it

They must add a quality OG in the off-season. They have been 1 injury away from Phil Costa starting. I don't even know if he can play OG or if they would have to move Fred over with Costa at OC.

They key to the entire off-season is what they do with Ware. They could sign 2 top free agents or 3 to 4 mid-level free agents if they cut Ware. They could still do it by restructuring Ware, but that would push 11M into the future. They could also give Ware a pay cut, but I don't see him agreeing to it without testing the market first.
