the copycat owner strikes again. All we gave up for headcase owens is cash. Giving up 3 picks for headcase johnson, then paying him is right up cerrato and snyders alley.

I hope the bengals get more out of them come saturday.

If there is any truth to this the Bengals are insane for rejecting that offer. Washington is equally insane for offering so much.

If true, the Bengals are foolish for turning down that deal!

So last night I put on the Sci-Fi channel and the Twilight Zone is on... an Old man and his wife are in a Vegas Casino. The old man is given a coin to play the slots and he wins. He then tells his wife that he is smarter than everyone else and he is saving his winnings. NOT giving it back. A little while later he tells his wife that the money is bad and he has to get rid of it and put it into the machine.

The Bengals are moralistic idiots. Mike & Mike were talking about this. They're going to hold on to CJ over some moral stance that he should have to honor his contract and he's not going to report until after the last preseason game so he can collect his check in Week 1.

And it's going to be a massive, massive disruption. Just stupid. They're going to have to deal him eventually, why not raid the dumbest team in the NFL's draft cabinet?

I just heard on Colin Cowherd that Mort said it was this years first and next years first also! They turned it down. I guess we are now out of the Vet WR sweepstakes!!

I heard it was a first this year and a first next year. It was also stated the Bengals contacted both Philly and Dallas as well to say he is not going to be moved.

Boy the Bungles are stupid.

If I'm the Bengals, I'm not trading Chad Johnson no matter what. If you let players know they can publicly lobby their way out of contracts, what's going to stop every player from doing it? Sometimes you have to make a stand on a principal.

If true, I'm glad the Bengals rejected this deal. It would've just driven up the price for any possible deal for Williams or Boldin.

Sources: Skins offer '08 first-rounder, '09 pick for Johnson; Cincy says no
By Chris Mortensen
ESPN.com

Updated: April 22, 2008, 10:34 AM ET

How serious are the Cincinnati Bengals about not giving in to Chad Johnson's trade demands?

Serious enough to swat away an offer from the Washington Commanders that could have netted the Bengals two first round draft picks, team and league sources said.

The Commanders offered this year's first round pick, No. 21 overall, and a conditional third rounder in 2009 that could escalate to a first rounder if Johnson and the Commanders hit certain performance levels, the sources said.

It was not the first time the Commanders approached the Bengals about a deal but it was the first significant proposal.

The Bengals have not only rejected the Commanders, but two other NFC East suitors -- the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles -- have been informed that there has been no change in the team's position that Johnson will not be traded.

The Bengals have noted to those suitors that Johnson has been the "second-highest paid receiver" in the NFL during the past three years, indignant about suggestions that Johnson also wants a new contract, the sources said.

Trading Johnson also would mean Cincinnati would take an $8 million salary cap hit, but that amount could be split over the next two years. Additionally, as one anonymous owner told ESPN.com, "There's nothing wrong with dead money. It's cash already paid and it's cash back in your pocket that you don't have to spend, especially with the [high] amount of everyone's salary cap these days."

Chris Mortensen covers the NFL for ESPN.

If it was actually two first round picks, the Bengals are outright fools (even more than I thought!) to have turned it down.

The Bengals could rid themselves of a team headache and get two first rounders? That's a no-brainer.

I would welcome Chad Johnson to the Commanders.

If the Bengals let their players know they can cry and moan their way out of contracts then they just trade away 1 headache for 52 new ones.

For two firsts for a pain in the ***, 30 year old, overrated wideout? He could lobby his way of my team in a heartbeat. He's a headcase, most other players aren't.

if true, it does anyway. you think the skins won't pay the same for a roy williams or a. boldin? it puts an insane price tag on any possible trades that even could come up right about now.
