Per Chris Mortensen on ESPN.

Edit: wow someone changed my subject line quick? Is it mandatory to list a source in the subject?

I am not shocked truthfully. I figured tomorrow simply because the playoff games would be the big stories today.

32 years old. A guy around my age named head coach of the um...Denver Broncos.

Not too shabby.

EDIT: Just read the story...oops

I wonder if that sunk him?

I bet it played a role.

I doubt it helped.

As for Daniels, I know his name was thrown out for some jobs a year or two ago and he took himself out of consideration. Interesting he opted to take one this year. Wonder if he just didn't think he was ready before or just liked the Denver job better.

Denver's a pretty good gig esp. considering the likes of the Lions and Browns. A quick upgrade to the D and they should be solid.

I think this is one of the plum jobs in the NFL personally. They have fantastic fans, a home field advantage (elevation above sea level plus cold) that few can overcome, and a good organization.

McDaniel is a smart kid. I think this was a great hire.

McDaniels is a good young coach and he's going to fit well with Cutler.

But I thought they were going to look for a Defensive guy.

Maybe McDaniels takes someone from the Pats staff for his DC.

i agree. mike shanahan lasted as long as he did because it's a great organization and it has always been, just missing a few pieces to get to the next level.

and i think thats why everyone was shocked when bowlen announced the position was open. any assistant who wants to be hc would want that job as his first hc gig.
