Those names should tell everyone all that they need to know as to why pay Romo!! Imagine the Cowboys with any of those other guys taking snaps! We wouldn't even be 8-8!! Maybe a 4 or 5 win team with no Romo!! So what's the problem!!? As for McFlabb , he is obviously jealous....I mean the Deadskins tore up his "big" deal...what does that tell ya?? Come on man!! You got dumped for Rex Grossman!...I repeat Rex Grossman!...why don't you stick to soup commercials..Lord knows you look like you already ate the lifetime supply they gave you!...and will somebody offer him a nasal strip PLEASE!

Frankly other than Alex Smith Kyle Orton would beat out any of them.

In reality, Romo is signed on for 4 years at 65 mil. 16 mil is not that bad if people would take a closer look.
It's not much more tan Sanchez and will be less than a bunch of guys that are getting ready to sign.

Oh great we wouldnt be able to get our usual 8-8

I'm not one of the ones ing about the contract because it was more or less inevitable and the deal itself really isn't too bad, but thats just a terrible argument you made.

With that said.... fix the o line with real talent and top notch players, maintain an affective and consistent running game, and improve the D or its irrelevant who the QB is. All the arguing for and against this contract is pointless unless we do at least 2 of those this offseason, and so far it isn't looking great.

Thanks...I try anyways.. Its just irritating that people dump on a guy that not only played but WON against the superior 49ers with broken ribs! They say he never wins "big games". Well what was that game against the Eagles and Mcflabb himself to get into the playoffs just to once again for the THIRD time in one season beat the Eagles AND Mcflabb in the playoffs? Do you realize how hard it is to beat a team three times in one year? Let's ask Mcflabb...oh you may find him in the bathroom puking up his soup because that's a question with pressure! And yes decaf couldn't hurt lol.

This is exactly the point. Our backup is better than any of their QBs currently being moved and or "starting over" with a new team. You think this contract was big?? Imagine next year with a free agent Tony Romo! That contract would blow this one away. You all know it..I definitely know it..Jerry knows it..and about 10-15 NFL teams know it!

Yea just Imagine that. instead of going 8 and 8, we might go 5 and 11. does it really matter? either way we will be out of the playoffs. just like we have been 4 out of the last 5 years.paying the choker Romo all this money was just stupid.

Not if they are changing things up and letting Romo have more control. Ala Peyton Manning..Romo is a beast in the no huddle or two minute offense. Imagine opening every game by no huddle offense and scoring earlier! We could have definitely won one or two more games and who knows in the playoffs cuz its a whole new season!

And who do you suppose they play then?? You can't give us ONE QB available by trade or free agency or even draft that has Romo's skills!...Go ahead and name one........I'm waiting...... still waiting.... it WON'T happen so don't try.

Without Romo we'd win maybe 2 games and that's if the other team plays bad. Then the argument will be, "we'd have the #1 pick to draft a qb". After reading another post that said we've only drafted 3 qb's since '91. Those qb's are bill musgrave, Quincy carter, and Stephen McGee. Our current gm and scouting department doesn't have a lot of practice, and success, with drafting qb's. like it or not Romo is a diamond in the rough that Jerry luckily found that keeps him from being exposed as the horrible GM that he is. When Romo is gone don't expect any reason for us to even be competitive against the nfl's basement dwellers.

Well maybe we'll get lucky again and keep taking undrafted guys hoping one sticks! Or we can always ask the all-knowing Mcflabb what we should do..he's good at getting beat out for the starting job!...he can point the way to QB promise land..if he doesn't have coronary first.

I've never seen so many people so excited to be 8-8.

Nobody is "excited"to be 8-8...But I am glad we're not 2-14 or 4-12! We WERE 8-8 LAST season. Get over it. NFL teams are always jumping up and down record wise.Nobody can guess or predict the new players, injuries, other teams additions and subtractions, and just plain old luck of the bounce. If you are such a negative fan maybe you should be an Eagles fan and leave optimistic fans alone instead of trying to pull people in pointless arguments. Please wait till the END of the upcoming season to complain about it!! NOT then beginning before a game is played!! Good Lord!! Some people must be miserable so they try to push it on everyone else.

Is Orton on par with Kitna? Kitna went 4-4 as a starter.

Many people think 8-8 is worse than 4-12. It symbolizes a culture of mediocrity, allows Jerry to continue the illusion that they are just a player or two away and prevents any real change from taking place.
