# We have some key players we are targeting as FA's. we have been looking closely at who we want and how much we will spend.
# We have the chance to be a better team this year. We were playing pretty well until Flo went down last year.
# In general there are alot of mistakes made by overpaying players in a bidding war. If you can stay in a moderate range with those players, you probably don't make the big mistake and have some upside for players over the next 2-3 years.
# OL, FS, PK and WR are issues we need to address in FAgency. FS and OL are the positions we are looking at most closely.----JJ

Who are the Key players and why has only Kosier and Akin been to valley ranch? LB is not even a stated FA goal.

The overpaying comment is telling. That is definitely what is going on right now. Just guys getting PAID. JJ is practicing restraint. I guess it is a good thing.

If PK is a real goal, they better step up and pay someone before we are stuck with Suisham.

Is it possible that TO is the smokescreen and Javon Walker is the object of our desire? Would Ellis, who has good value, and a pick be enough to get him?

Walker is not a FA. We would have to trade for him, and I bet GB is going to ask for quite a bit.

Right!

That is why I said, "Would ellis and a pick be enough to get him?"

This says it all....it's no excuse to leave holes with all the money we have.

We were nowhere near ready to compete for a superbowl last year.....if Jerry think that, he's ready for the old folks home.

I wonder who the FS is?
All the free safety prospects are still out there -- Hope, Coleman, Law and Milloy (if you consider Law and Milloy free safety prospects).

I've wondered the same exact thing...Ellis could be trade bait, and Walker is coming off injury that may cause his value to be down some. I like Walker...if we soemhow made that trade i'd be real happy. the fact Walker wants out puts GB in a positions where they get rid of him for cheaper....maybe?

I agree.

The whole Ellis thing was just handled too weird. Ellis is expecting to be traded, has a reasonable contract, and has value. WR is a stated goal. TO is a really risky, older wr. Everyone knew Walker was going to do this.

Just something to think about. I would much rather do this than sign TO.

now youre talking. if we trade for and sign walker long term, i will be a happy camper. he is an elite WR, young. take him over TO in a heartbeat.

PS: his agent is also drew rosenhouse. were he and BP talking about him? we can only hope.

Javon Walker is rehabbing from knee injury so how much Packers could get for him has to take that into account. He's already made it publically very clear he doesn't want to play for them and has stated he won't come in to TC. All he needs to do is come back to the team in time for the whole season to be credited as final year of his contract and then he will be a FA; Packers could put franchise tag on him but they'd have to pay him top 5 WR money or trade him. If he's as unhappy as he seems, they are not going to want him around. I don't really blame him given the situation. I'd rather have him any day over TO and the headaches/controvery he brings.

Packers have handled him poorly. He had a really good 4th year for them and he only wanted more money; he wasn't asking for top WR money and he was making only about $500,000. Finally, after Favre told him to get into TC he came back in but either in TC/preseason or early in regular season, hurt his ACL. Apparently Packers didn't address this issue since season ended & now its public all over again. He was a good player for them for 4 years & this should have been handled differently.

I don't think rosenhaus is his agent anymore.
