After viewing Wade's PC today there is one thing for sure I noticed about him ... this guy has a look that what seems as disinterest but is totally the opposite. He is very much committed to the turnaround of this football team, and it's clear he likes the group of players... and it's available talent.... ALOT.

If I were a defensive football player on this team, I'd be very very happy to see this man walk through the door. It's clear he knows the game, and while he doesn't name drop as much as BP ever did.... he identifies talent of his past stops with PRECISION. Roy Williams is about as close to a hybrid of Atwater and Denis Smith as there ever has been. Don't think for a minute this guy is not the man for the job. I think he's already picturing plays that WILL be made that were not last year, especially defensively.

I'm sold, and here's why. Most of Wade's criticism stems from a perceived lack of "control" over his players as a "players" coach, and that eventually his initial energy lift to a team wanes, or bad character players take over a loose locker room.

The differences here are: a) Wade will identify that as a mistake of his coaching past and will not be afraid to make a bold move to prove it IF necessary and b) Jeff Ireland. Since Parcells' and Ireland's hiring, the Cowboys now have one of the highest CHARACTER teams in the league. The key to both of their success was identifying players with excellent character that are also excellent football players, and/or players with ability and a LOVE for the game.

BP is gone, but the blueprint for player selection remains. I really think Wade's style of coaching will get ALL of the ability of a Marcus Spears, or a Julius Jones that BP could not because of his abrasive nature.

I like what we got here in a coach... alot.

That was a very well though out post and I agree with much of what you said.

Parcells did say, upon arriving at Valley Ranch, that he was through with dealing with thugs. So that was a priority he placed on Jeff Ireland.

You would think that after five drafts now (four with Parcells and one with Phillips), this team should be able to contend for a Super Bowl.

The wins and losses might not be where Parcells wanted to be when he left. One thing he did do though was bring to this team high caliber, and high character personnel.

Parcells left Dallas with a much better foundation than when he arrived. So despite not winning a playoff game, I am very greatful to him for that.

Thank you Bill.
