Just when I thought the Boys were leaning to WR

This guy Mayock from NFL Network says the Cowboys still need to address the secondary (and the Cowboys know this too) instead of getting a wide receiver in the first.

According to this guy, our new guy Hamlin is not that fleet-footed either. So the Cowboys will upgrade the secondary next weekend.

But with our starting wide receivers being so long in the tooth, it does not make sense to pass up a blue chip WR in the first.

Surely, WP can recognize this, even though the defense is his specialty.
I would love a blue-chip secondary player but I'm not convinced Miles and Hurd are NFL-worthy starters. Thus ergo ipso facto ultimatus unum, we needs a WR, ladies.

Bowe, Ginn or Gonzales

over the last couple of weeks I have been warming up to the idea of selecting Brandon Meriweather....I dont suppose Nelson will be available at 22 but if he is - I wouldnt be too upset if we took him either. But honestly I think Meriweather is a better fit.

I think it really comes down to who is the surperior player at those respective positions of need. I think we truly have put our selves in the position to not have to take an inferior prospect to fill need.

WE could use a young WR, but if the DB is a surperior prospect to the WR's available at our pick, then we take the DB, and hope to find value at WR in the following rounds. In this case we would still be OK with Owens, Glenn & Crayton for the time being.

Same with DB, if the playmaker is at WR when we pick, then we take the best prospect, and address DB in the second or third, move up in the second if need be etc.

By the same token, if the best WR's and DB's are gone when we pick in the first by some chance, and the surperior prospect is at OT, OG or OLB, then we should grab the surperior prospect at that position.

While I hope a player like Ginn or Jarrett falls to our pick, or guys like Nelson, Ross or Merriweather are there if not, I don't think our situation at DB or WR is so dire that we absolutely "Must Have" a first round pick used on them, respectively. I think there will definately be guys in the second and third who could strengthen those two positions respectively.

The exciting thing is that it looks like we could be very fortunate in the sense that the talent in this years draft fits our positions of greatest need IMO. It's nice to have a guy like Ginn or Jarrett as possibilities when you are looking to go WR, as opposed to needing a WR when the likes of Michael Jenkins, Troy Williamson, Roddy White, Chad Jackson, Bryant Johnson etc. are the years best. Those are all perfect examples of teams picking an inferior prospect to fill a need IMO.

The more I think about it, I'm thinking we're gonna go FS 1st round, then take Rice/Hill or anyone who happens to drop to Round 2. That may very well involve a trade up in Round 2 with a few of our 10 picks.

I wouldn't mind going WR in the 2nd round. I'd be happy with Rice, I just don't want Anthony Gonzalez.

I don't think it's going to be Wade's decision.

What we really need is help on defense. Plain and simple draft S Reggie Nelson who has been said to be the next Ed Reed.:bang2:

Well, I'm glad you didn't post your first thought and then decide to post your second.

No well in hell I'd draft a safety in round 1.

I think we draft a CB...if the one we want isn't there, we may go WR.

If we draft a S at all, it won't be in round 1.

I don't think any team will come out and announce what they are going to do on draft day. No doubt we will see allot of articles and opinions out there but Dallas is not going to show their hand of what we will do on draft day until the time comes. All this talk of position and trading up or down is a waste of time.

Defense wins champinships, but I agree with D.Woodson when he says Watkins is the guy and needs seasoning.

So if the Cowboys agree with that then offensive line is the second most important aspect of championship football.

Kosier played good, but the guards that will be available could elevate this team's offense to dominate.

Grab a WR in 2nd round and we will be ready!

I'd love to grab Gonzales somewhere. I don't think there's anyway he falls to our second round pick, it's looking as if he may not fall out of the first, but somewhere, somehow he'd be a great pickup.

Dallas will not take a FS in the 1st round. I believe they will end up with a passing rushing OLB/DE with their first pick.

That's not really relevent in my mind. It was the defense that cost us the division last year and a better playoff draw, the defense stunk in the 2nd half. I would draft the best available player regardless.

I don't think Mayock has WR listed among Dallas' top five needs.

Jamie Nalls (sp?) also said a few weeks ago, that Dallas should draft Griffin and then Moses.

It's very possible, that we could draft Ross and Meriweather in the first two rounds. Both run in the mid 4.4's, but we need playmakers on defense and they bring that to the table. I don't think Jerry is going to forget the meltdown, the defense had in the December....especially against Detroit!

I want more young playmakers on defense, not older guys playing for bigger contracts.
