Speaking Thursday, Jaguars owner Shad Khan said the team has "no plans" to release troubled WR Justin Blackmon.
I can only imagine what the Jags fan forum posts are like today.

I wonder what the cost difference is between releasing him and keeping him. I don't think they actually pay him while he is suspended, but he does count against the cap. I'm not sure either way. He is still on a rookie contract, so he isn't making the truly big bucks.

At this point the bigger cost can't be measured in dollars and cents. The humiliation and embarrassment he brings the franchise should be enough to convince them it's time to move on. Even if he is only 24 years old.

I disagree. I do think he will eventually get cut, but there is no reason to rush. It's the Jags. They have been humiliated and embarrassed for years now. Getting rid of him won't change the way fans perceives that franchise. Even back in the days when they were good, they were never an interesting franchise that garnered much attention. They can wait a year and cut him next summer or whatever makes the most economical sense.

some people have zero self control.

tue some people do not need to be running around getting high. I think the NFL should have a 3 strike policy and your out. These guys get a great oppertunity in life and watching them blow it over stupid stuff is rediculas

No, you're wrong.

More or less, EVERY analyst said the same thing.

YR

Moon said it first and many analyst jumped on it thinking it sounded good. They repeated it ad nauseam. I was surprised because it was easy to tell just casually following Oklahoma St football that Blackmon had some issues. None of these guys did a simple google search of Blackmon at the time to find out he didn't have all his brain cells. Plus it was easy to see a difference in on the field talents between Bryant and Blackmon as well. Not a huge gap, but Dez did bring a little more talent to the table.

I also think the analysts either:

1. Assume because Dez is playing for Dallas = bad person

or

2. They hate Dallas and would love to see Dallas fail again (or they may not hate Dallas, but saying nonsense about Dallas helps pique the viewers' interest).

when hitting your wife only gets you 2 games, I stop caring about this stuff. It's all out of wack.

It is what is is and players know it, if you test for drugs this is what will happen not that hard to understand. You worry about what you do, you control your own action not someone elses. Blackmon has very good talent and he is choosing to flush down the drain over weed? Yeah he has got a problem and only person who can control his problem is him. So what someone else is doing or not doing really has nothing to do with Blackmon

That made me LOL.

I always hear Weed is no big deal, evidently it is for Blackmon who seems to allow weed to control his career and is costing him money in missed games.

I guess we'll pick him up in a couple of years for a 4th rounder...

I'd love for someone to actually remind Moon that he said that and hear his explanation as to why he would make that comment when Blackmon had been arrested once at OKSU (DWI) , but Dez at that time had only got in trouble for the jewelry and trespassing incident. Even without hindsight, it seems clear the wrong player got the benefit of the doubt.

Too bad Dez plays for a joke of an organization because it would be sweet for him to rub his success in the faces of all the people who disrespected him. A kid with possibly the worst upbringing of any NFL prospect, instead of getting respect and congratulations, gets asked if his mom is a prostitute and gets called an idiot by the great Warren Moon. I think a few "suck it's" have been earned.
