Younger but not better, Dallas got a better deal and can walk in 3 years.

Parnell was average and even though he is younger, has little upside.

Free agency paid him well though, Doug wanted to be in Dallas.

I agree we been grooming him for the past 4 years.

I wouldn't want to bank on going into 2015 with Lee, Hitchens, and Rivers as my starting LBs. Adding a guy in the draft would ease that a bit, but Lee getting injured would put you back at square one. Imagine how things would have been if it weren't for the McClain trade.

I don't want to go in banking on Rivers for anything. He is camp fodder in my mind. No, Dallas will need more than they currently have at LB. But the guys that are leaving aren't going to be that difficult to replace. Rolando would be nice to have though.

@AdamSchefter: Falcons adding LBs: Former Texans LB Brooks Reed is expected to sign with Atlanta as is former Cowboys LB Justin Durant, per sources.

Man we better up our offer to rolando and Bruce quickly before we lose our lb

not gonna happen all 3 will be gone.

Are we the only ones drafting? We have a low pick in a shallow draft. Not going to solve all problems.

I thought Bruce Carter was their best linebacker down the stretch and into the playoffs. He has the ability in coverage to read the QB's eyes and jumps those middle passing lanes. Whoever gets him will be getting a good LB. Hopefully it's the Cowboys.

All I've seen so far is that Carter is visiting Tampa Bay on Tuesday (yesterday) and scheduled to meet with the Texans later this week. I don't see any reports of his signing.

Uh yeah, teams are going to be jumping at the chance to sign a player who essentially quit on his last team. It has already been proven, if Rolando isn't happy in his personal life, the guy will go AWOL on the field. Just because he has been happy in Dallas, at least in the short term, does NOT mean he would be happy anywhere. Heck, not even Ozzie Newsome could get the potential out of this guy. But yeah, teams are just going to fall all over themselves trying to sign him. SMH.

Yep. If people think Claiborne is a bust, say hello to Rivers. One of the worst LBers in the NFL.

Hitchens is good but I think people are overrating him because of how much he played above expectations. He was a 4th round rookie who was deemed a huge reach. He stepped in later in the season when some starters went down and he played well. It was a bonus since nothing was expected from him. It'll be the opposite if he's the only legitimate LBer on the roster. People will start picking out his flaws. Look at how much hate Carr gets because he's a starter and has a big contract. Carr is a solid CB but people hate him because of his contract and status.

Then there's Lee. A guy who's played 16 of the last 48 games and is nearing 30 years old. Any production from him should be a bonus.

If we sign Rolando and manage to snag Dawson in the 2nd/3rd I'll be a happy camper.

Durant missed 10 freaking games last year. He was no more reliable in the last three seasons than Lee has been.

Agree. Technically 12 games missed. 10 regular season and 2 playoffs. Got it, he was playing good but he's never healthy and we proved we can win without him. I'm not upset with him leaving.

He's also very ordinary. You know you have a real crap defense when a guy like Justin Durant is viewed as a major loss.

Justin Durant's deal with #Falcons is 3 years, $10.8 million with another $3M available in incentives. Gets $4.5M in 2015.

Wow!

Makes me feel much better about us not jumping headlong into free agency.

Or going nuts trying to keep every role player on the team.
