Very near the top of the list of bad things that happened in the 1990's is the Erik Williams car crash. He and Larry really never got to play together when Erik was dominant (never saw anybody else manhandle Reggie White). I am convinced the Cowboy offense would have had 5 hall of famers that decade.
Erik was another bad dude...I hope the pups that we have now can even match up one half of what those guys were all about!
The dudes Dallas has now have brawn AND brains.
Lethal combination..................
It's a shame Erik Williams couldn't get his act together off-the-field. He was on his way to the Hall of Fame.
He's in the HOF in my mind...but, fate has it's way of doing things that you cannot control.
But, those teams we are discussing are what we remember as real Dallas Cowboys! I think the team is getting back to being REAL Dallas Cowboys for a change!
The part about playing against Larry Allen starts at the 2:00 mark. Its absolutely hilarious.
I like the way the Cowboys are building the offensive line like they did in the 90s. That's the mark of a solid team, and that's why I believe the Cowboys will pick up where they left off last year.
If it were just about Romo and Dez, I would be a little more worried and less optimistic. But as the Giants and the Hogs (Commanders) and the Cowboys proved in the 90s, that a strong offensive line is necessary to go to the next level. The Eagles, for all their defensive talent, couldn't push through to the Big Game. And, IMO, this was in part because of their marginal coach, Buddy Ryan (he didn't have what it took to get that team over the top, though he built a great defense), and their marginal offensive line.
The Giants had a great defense, the Commanders had a serviceable defense and the Cowboys had a very, very good defense. But those teams also had strong offensive lines, moreso than the Eagles.
That was priceless. Most humble I've ever heard Justin Tuck talk about anything related to the Dallas Cowboys.
