The minor benefit (beyond the downgrade in kicker) is that it forces the NYG to carry 2 kickers on their 53 man roster into the first week. I'd hate to have to waste a precious roster spot that way.

Actually, they don't have to. After the final cuts, Brown is technically not on the roster, and is officially suspended. His replacement would be a placeholder for one week until Brown is eligible to be reinstated, and then the replacement is released with Brown taking his roster spot.

Where it would get interesting is that as a result of not being on the roster the first week, Brown's salary is no longer 100% guaranteed.

Im shocked. I see he had to mention hardy and dallas again but not the Panthers who let him play...also didn't mention mara or ticsch.

But this is shocking to me as it is.

The NY papers have been going after the Giants and Goodell on this. Mara and Reese absolutely acted like cowards yesterday when confronted on this.

Yep Mara can never act all high and mighty again. Just like the Rooney's can not the way they handled their qb's issues.

Every team is the same. Trying to win and trying to make as much money as possible.

The league and the Giants have handled this whole thing in an underhanded manner. Nobody ever reported it, the Giants ignored and hushed it up when they decided to re-sign him, the league even refused to say what he was suspended for when they handed down the ludicrously low suspension. And their lead investigator, the avid Giants fan, suddenly couldn't find any evidence or get anyone to talk to her investigators? Really?

It all smacks of a poor cover up attempt and potential bias. Frankly the fact that they have an avid Giants fan, with a room dedicated to Giants memorabilia, in charge of the investigations is outlandish. Sure, she might find a way to be objective and not allow her clear bias for the Giants to skew her perception - but why should she need to? You can't honestly tell me that she was the only qualified person for the position, or that they could not have found anyone qualified who didn't have a rooting interest. Instead, the opted to find someone who is a self professed rabid Giants fan.

Frankly it's disgusting what Goodell has done to the league. Between him and Blandino they are on the cusp of ruining the game entirely.

(mods if this needs to be placed in the NFL zone please move)

According to the NY Times and NY Post, Giants kicker Josh Brown will have to serve a 1 game suspension for a domestic violence charge that happened May of 2015. The charges were later dropped. His wife and he have divorced since then but I was listening to ESPN radio this morning and his wife said that she called the police at least 10 times for DV. His backup has never kicked a PA or FG in the NFL.

So hardy misses a whole season then gets a 4 game suspension when it was 1 incident and charges were dropped....giants guy has at least 10 incidents and only misses 1 game....hmmm seems fair
