Yep, it would be a clear betrayal of the trust of a young player who chose your organization over anyone else in the league when it was his choice to make. If you betray that trust, if another player has his choice, it would undoubtedly be a strike against signing with the Cowboys.

Collins wasn't an orphan being adopted after fleeing Allepo. He was going to get the same amount of money no matter what because every team in the NFL was going to offer him the same max contract that Dallas did.

Dallas offered him a starting job on the best OL in football, on a team close to home, on a playoff team with max publicity and endorsement/off the field money.

Collins picked Dallas because it had the most upside and Jerry made a good pitch, he wasn't a college recruit.

I think they can resign Leary if they want to, there will be a ton of cap space available next year.

And the same argument applies to Collins, he is a FA after 2017. If he is better than Leary and Leary will get a huge payday, won't Collins get even more?

And wouldn't the same logic apply to his trade value? If he is good enough to start in Dallas and start over Leary, why would he not have trade value? He was considered a top 15 pick in his draft year and he hasn't lived up to that IMO, but he is the same player but with more experience. No team would give up a #3 for that?

He won't be a UFA like Leary will be so it's not a valid comparison.

Randy Gregory clearly showed the physical skills today (again).
If Gregory doesnt win with the initial move or speed move, he doesnt win period. He desperately needs to learn some counter moves.

But he had a choice. And thankfully, he chose Dallas. To betray that faith and ship him off is bad for business and sets a terrible precedent for the future.

My mistake, but he will still have a salary that jumps into the millions. I don't see Leary getting more than 4 or 5 Million per year as a cap hit, I dont' think he will price himself out of a place on the team. Especially in the coming season when Dallas will have a ton of cap space available.

I don't see where the team has "a ton of cap space" in the coming season.

Haha, what's up with you and Leary? Leary is a gem, he's great, but this is the NFL and sometimes you have to make choices. I also think you're underestimating Collins a bit, he was on IR this year.

Do you not remember him playing against Seattle at 22 years old? Came out on the 2nd level and completely leveled Bobby Wagner, then threw Earl Thomas into the front row of the bleachers.

Leary is playing great, but Collins is legitimate blue chip prospect, and has better feet especially when we run zone.

It's possible he becomes the 4th All Pro on this line. I wouldn't trade him for a 3rd round pick.

And I'd like to keep Leary too, but right now we have two starting corners who will be FA, a starting WR, two safeties, and possibly additional DL. I'm pretty sure we're already going to be forced to restructure just to get under the cap in 2017, before we even sign anyone. We have money in 2018/2019, but we also have Martin's contract and will figure out what to do with Collins.

In a perfect world, I'd keep them both. But it's not wise to sign a G for that much when, in all likelihood, he's going to be the backup when Collins gets a little more live fire.

Good stuff, Kaiser. I agree with percy that the offensive issues were almost entirely Sanchez-related and had very little to do with Elliott not playing, but that's beside the point.

This point: "The play that jumped out to me was him chasing Sproles down on a screen pass. You could see Sproles jawing at Gregory and it may have been from something he said, but live it looked like Sproles was shocked that a DE could catch him..." I thought exactly the same thing. Sproles looked like he did a spit-take when he saw it was a DL that closed on him that fast. Gregory would be a very good player by now if he'd been able to keep himself on the field. As it is, he needs a lot of work. But he's got a ton of potential if he can tap it.

I'm not putting Collins down, I think he has a lot of value. My argument is that Collins is inconsistent and can make superhuman plays like the ones you posted, but he always makes more mistakes than he should. I think Collins has a higher ceiling and lower floor but Leary has a higher floor and lower ceiling.

Leary is a proven quality and I would resign him and trade Collins if the dollars and trade offers lined up. I have no idea if it does obviously, there are a lot of moving pieces between now and next season.

Not arguing, but do you think the first two drives with Dak looked this year's Dak? I don't and that was my point.
