We drafted Steve McNair in the 4th round. Prescott is a special player and you can see it from space. Romo is a better player and will start when he returns, but Dak is special. When Dak went onto the field down by 3 in the 4th Quarter, I KNEW he was going to take the team down the field for the winning score. And he did. He is going to be a special player.

This game was the 2014 plan, control the game with the offense and keep the defense off the field. The problem with that is that our DLine is atrocious until DLaw gets back and the rotational guys like Tapper and Davis (and possible Gregory) can take snaps. Irving played a lot today which helped, but any team will pick you apart if you can’t bring pressure – which is what Cousins almost did in the second half. On the sack by T. Crawford, we were playing an all – DT line of Crawford, McClain, Collins and Jack Crawford. He got the sack, but that lineup is a desperation move.

We drafted Steve McNair in the 4th round.

Give Claiborne his props, he is playing very well. Carr had a blown assignment but is much better as the 2nd or 3rd CB instead of trying to cover #1 WRs. Jones is settling into his role and I bet grades out well for this game. Even Church played well, though I think his pick was more of a bad pass by Cousins than a brilliant play by Church.

Elliot played a lot better and Lynch’s comparison to LaDanien Tomlinson is spot on. He needs more time, but did much better today when he showed some patience. Free had some bad plays, but the OL is starting to play to its capabilities. And that is huge.

This game was example # 4,654,987 of how the Refs control the game. Not to favor one team, but to make sure the score stays close, fans don’t tune out and advertising revenue to the league stays high. Dallas played its 2014 game plan to control the game on offense, then up 10 – 0 Washington doesn’t convert a 3rd down but the refs make a ridiculous PI call on Claiborne to keep them in the game. If Dallas goes up 17 – 0, everyone turns off the game and the NFL loses money – which is why they didn’t let it happen. I thought the “in the grasp” sack of Dak late in the game was also a call to keep things close and not let Dallas pull ahead.

And my last point - we drafted Steve McNair in the 4th round.
I like the way you think! Some are trying to criticize Dak like he has been in the league for years. It is unbelievable that this kid has only played 2 games. This kid is special and we are lucky because he will be able to take the games he has started and watch Romo work via new eyes. When this kid finally takes the reigns it will be a thing of pure football bliss.

Nice post...but I'd say we draft Dak in the 4th round and years from now this may turn out to be more of a Joe Montana type pick. I still wonder how in the world did Joe Montana fall to the 3rd round? More and more I'm asking...how did Dak get passed over by each team (even ours) 3 times at least (some time had more than 3 opportunities) Crazy...just plain crazy.

Exactly, I posted that last week - it took Romo two seasons as a starter after two years as a backup to learn how to throw the ball away and force it. Dak does it automatically. Dak has that presence to slide in the pocket and buy just enough time - and he has it as a rookie. There are so many little things, like escaping ankle tackles, that Dak does effortlessly and other QBs take three years as a starter to learn.

I like the gamer and calmness that DAK plays with. Reminds me a lot of Roger Staubach. Not the same runner that Roger the Dodger was, but both good runners, efficient passers, leaders and Winners.....

Pretty funny ... because I remember people comparing Steve Pelluer to Roger Staubach.

Chill a bit ok, peeps? Comparing Dak to Staubach and Aikman is not fair to anyone. Dak had a nice game. Let's stop there.

Yes, the call on Claiborne was terrible.

Also, one reason that having a smallish DL can be a problem compared to a big DL like the Giants use, is that holding affects the smaller/quicker DLinemen more than it does the big/powerful ones. There has been a lot of holding against the Cowboys DL by both the Giants and Skins.

I didn't think it was terrible as much as it was inconsistent. They were allowing Norman to be a hell of a lot more grabby.

I don't know about anyone else but does anyone think we drafted Steve McNair in the 4th round?:)

Wow. Don't know how I didn't see that comparison before.

no sarcasm.

Just can't believe I missed it.

Based on what I've seen so far, you're spot on.

Every team passed on Dak 4 times since we used a compensatory selection to draft him, not our regular fourth round pick. without the awarding of the compensatory picks, Dak would have been a 5th rounder.

When was the last time a team transitioned from one excellent QB to another - and at their discretion? Joe Montana to Steve Young?

McNair was much slower to catch up to the NFL game.

Just like everyone saying chill out on calling Zeke a bust, we should chill out on a noizing Dak the savior.

To be fair, we will be able to better gauge after 8 games what we have here. There have been qbs that flashed in their first year like RG3 that have turned out to be junk, and there are qbs that take 2-4 years to develop. I like Dak, and hope he is our next franchise qb, but it's way too soon to tell. I can say I like what I see so far!

I have to agree. I saw some plays where Moses had his arm literally around Crawford 98s neck in front of the ref. We have been getting mugged at the line both games.
