I'm not saying Dak is a carbon copy of McNair, no QB is a clone of each other. Payton Manning and Eli Manning share the same DNA and I consider them to be Fredo and Michael Corleone in their level of play.

The point on McNair is that he wasn't the typical 6'6" immobile QB with a gun for an arm. He was a leader who had 3 Pro Bowls and an MVP award, who was mobile but not reckless.

And even then it took him several years to reach the level of running an offense the way Dak did yesterday. The best attribute Dak has is his preternatural calm and awareness. Someone else posted it (sorry I forget who) that that kind of calm is actually a Joe Montana quality. I'm not going to compare Dak to Montana, but if Dak continues on the same path I can definitely see the McNair comparison of a 6' 2" guy with a long career and multiple Pro Bowls.

Bottom line is McNair was never really 'that' good. I rooted heavily for him coming out of Alcorn St but he was wildly inconsistent with his accuracy.
There were times Dallas played him and he looked a lot like Kirk cousins yesterday where accuracy actually cost them games versus us.
He did have one mvp caliber season, but it was short-lived success. And it was the only season in his career he had a 2-1 TD to INT ratio.

Dak is more a limited arm guy who is a check down time and middle of the field type passer. McNair had all-world arm strength but that gun often needed warming up in games.

Tony Romo is also 6'2" and 230 and to me is a much close McNair comparison. When accuracy is on he will look all world. But does have gunslinger mentality.

McNair through 3 NFL seasons was at 23 TDs and 18 INTs. I'd be pretty disappointed if Dak was anywhere near that ratio.

Just like everyone saying chill out on calling Zeke a bust, we should chill out on a noizing Dak the savior.

To be fair, we will be able to better gauge after 8 games what we have here. There have been qbs that flashed in their first year like RG3 that have turned out to be junk, and there are qbs that take 2-4 years to develop. I like Dak, and hope he is our next franchise qb, but it's way too soon to tell. I can say I like what I see so far!
I like it too !!!!!!!!!

The officiating seemed really bad today. I remember on one nice run the Skins had, they showed the angle behind the offense and you could clearly see the OL holding our guy by the collar of his shoulder pads, right in front, as the RB ran through the hole a foot away. But you could only see it briefly because the view was then blocked by the official who was between the camera and infraction. The guy was 3 yards away and looking directly at it, no flag. Even if he was looking at the runner he'd have to see it, the runner went right by the hold. The hold created the hole. How does he not see that? Unless he simply chose not to see it.

Dude, holding happens so much and on EVERY play. The only explanation there is is that the refs let it happen until they "need" to call it so they can affect the game situation.

EVERY team. EVERY game. It's pretty disgusting. Also blatant rulebreaking grabbing by CBs every down, also.

Claiborne is playing like a first round pick.

He's been pretty solid. In fact, our secondary as a unit has been pretty solid, despite Scandrick not being anywhere near his pre-injury form. Granted, it's only two games, but what they've done with no pass rush has surprised me.

Dak has played above expectations to this point, but keep it in perspective. The Commanders D is not that good. He needs lots of work in the redzone for starters. But the future is looking real good at the position.

He does need a lot of work but the fact he is playing - and playing well - as a true rookie puts him into a very small group of QBs who have done that. Players do hit plateaus in their development (**cough** JJ Wilcox) but Dak is giving the team above average QB play as a true rookie.

Look at Payton Manning's first two starts as a rookie and they were mediocre. Tom Brady only saw the field for three passing attempts as a rookie. Romo didn't see the field for his first two years in the league.

Obviously none of that means Dak will be anywhere near as good as those three - but we haven't seen any obvious weaknesses in his game either.
