KaVontae Turpin

I got a feeling he’s on his way off the team he has regressed tremendously.

Turpin is average talent in a small frame who is not overly speedy. We have better options who are bigger targets for our QB to hit in most cases.

Is Turpin just not that good or are the coaches not using him right?
In the return game, he seems to hesitate and easily tracjed down/coralled and is not really a factor and on offense, he seems easily dealt with by opposing defenses.
I guess I was hoping for more of a Tyreek Hill type player but instead got a Dino Hall lol.
I've been questioning all season why this coaching staff doesn't go get rookie free agent speedster WR Silas Bolden. He's a clone of KaVontae Turpin.

This coaching staff is so stubborn and dumb.

It takes more than just being fast to be a good WR in the NFL. Turpin doesn’t have any of the route running ability, size, or hands to be a good NFL WR. He is what he is- a return specialist and gadget player. And I’d rather not see the coaching staff spend time scheming Turpin own over Ceedee and Pickens

On point!! I would not wast much time scheming for Mr. Bad Hands.

We just have to remember Turpin is 5'7, 158 with weights in his pockets.

That alone limits how much the Cowboys can use him on offense. Send him over the middle a few times and he's getting hit by linebackers that outweigh him by 100 pounds.

Just accept the fact that he's an excellent return man and a speedy gadget player on offense. Not every fast guy is Tyreek Hill 2.0.

How has he regressed? He's 4th in the NFL with 722 kick return yards and the three players ahead of him have played two more games.

He's averaging 25.79 yards per return, which is middle of the pack, but all it takes is to break one and he's at or near the top again.

What he is showing coaches in practices must not be too impressive.

He's TEMU Tyreek Hill. More fragile and lesser quality. On the upside, he's probably too small to be much of a violence threat to anyone.

Did yall see Turpin snap back to a guy on X (twitter) last week.

A guy tweeted “it’s time to have a conversation about Turpin”

Turpin read it and replied “ok, let’s have it”

The guy immediately walked back and apologized. I thought it was a punk move. The guy has a substantial amount of followers and shouldn’t
have backed down. He should have asked the tough questions instead of getting soft when Kavonte responded.

I get the impression that it's quite possible that the coaches have advised him to slow down his fast approaches to allow better recognition of his openings. It's not working for him nearly as effectively as when he first used his natural instincts to attack the coverage full speed and pick his openings when they became obvious to him. Perhaps the coaches haven't done him any real favors.

Other than that, it appears his aggressive takeoff has disappeared in favor of being cautious and less aggressive. He's simply seeming tentative and timid as opposed to what he was earlier when he first arrived with this team. I also can't help but to wonder if the beatings he took on returns affected his bold aggression in a very unfortunate way. It's a mystery to detect exactly what caused the change.

4th in kick return yards, 3rd in returns, and then 37th in punt return yards but has only returned 6 of them. Certainly it feels like there hasn't been as many explosive plays this season as last in the kick return game, but we're probably talking about 1 or 2 long returns being the difference in real terms.
He's 4th in the league in kickoff returns because with this defense, he sees a LOT of kickoffs! lol
