:::ducks for the oncoming brigade of Skins fans:::

From today's ESPN Chat

Matt (San Marcos, Tx): Okay, now how about overrated?

KC Joyner: Brandon Lloyd would come to mind. His metrics were in the bottom 10 of wide receivers but he is seen as a big addition to the Skins passing game.

Brandon Lloyd is highly overrated. I live in the Bay Area and have seen him play on multiple occations. For every acrobatic catch he makes, he runs a bad route, or drops an easy one. He's a good player, but tell met his...if SF is re-building, why would they trade away a young WR with loads of potential if they didn't know something about him. They bascially swapped Lloyd for Antonio Bryant.

I'm definitely taking a wait-and-see approach to Lloyd. But metrics alone clearly don't tell how good a football player is. There are some things that can't be measured. ;)

I agree that he has Alvin Harper's tendency of making the spectacular catch and dropping the easy one, but it's just too difficult to tell how making the transition to a competetive team with a qb not named Alex Smith will affect him.

Lloyd definitely has a lot to prove. Hopefully becoming the #2, 3 or 4 WR on a decent team with an established running game will help him do better than he has shown. Some guys just can't be relied upon as the go to guy. That may be the case with Lloyd.

I'm still glad to have him and am hoping a change of scenery is all he needed.

Its all good....I'm sure you can make an embarassing gif for every NFL player in the league. However, Lloyd wasn't that scared of the ball in week 3 last year...4 receptions, 142 yards and 2TDs. Who was he playing that week? I can't remember...;)

He's been playing in an anemic offense the past 3 years, and put up decent numbers considering. And he may not be a #1 receiver in the NFL...and that's perfectly fine. We've already got our #1. Lloyd is basically just on the field to draw attention away from Moss....and let's be honest...he will do that just fine.
