PLANO, TEXAS - Anyone who knows Dallas Cowboys Receiver Patrick Crayton understands the man has no problems with speaking his mind.

"I don't like to deceive people," Crayton said. "If you ask me a question, I'm not going to sugarcoat the answer."

One of the few times Crayton was at a loss for words came after the Cowboys' season-ending 34-to-3 loss at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings.

"I was in disbelief," Crayton said. "I think we got complacent by getting that first playoff win against the [Philadelphia] Eagles. It was deflating."

In spite of the way the Cowboys ended their season, Crayton feels they have what it takes to get back to the post season next year. That's why he's not surprised owner Jerry Jones hasn't made any big moves during the free agency period.

"I think Jerry knows what he has," Crayton said. "Like they say, if it's not broke -- don't fix it. I don't think he's going to make any big splashes as far as fixing some stuff. He just may upgrade a few areas -- maybe add some more fire power to some stuff."

The Cowboys receiving corps showed how explosive it could be this past season -- led by Miles Austin, who had a breakout season and made his first trip to the Pro Bowl. And it won't be his last if Patrick Crayton has anything to say about it.

"We don't let him get the big head," Crayton said. "We keep Miles Austin down to earth. His best football is still ahead of him."

If true, how pathetic and consistent with the 2007 season.

Ahhh?

I got news for him and Jerry. Minnesota either broke it or exposed it. Personally, I think Crayton's comment just shows he, and maybe they, still have no clue what it takes to win a superbowl. There seems to be too many players on the team content with their big salaries and the fact that they are a pretty decent team. That won't get you very far at the end of the year as we have seen.

Must be same thing with every other team in the league besides the Saints.

What are you talking about? PC specifically said they still need to improve. Hell, did you even watch the video or the season?

This is what I was referring to. He says the team got complacent after getting a playoff win and he was in disbelief that the Vikings kicked their ***. If that doesn't scream out to you that the team didn't prepare for that game like a championship team should then you don't get it. He basically says noone on the team thought the Vikings could do that to them. They got a playoff win and then let up when they should have stepped on the gas. This goes hand in hand with all the players who got their big money deals and instantly started to see their level of play decline. Do I honestly have to name names on that one? I could care less if this happens on every team or not. I don't care that he says in the video that they still have to get better. I'm sure he does feel that way AFTER that *** whooping. Too bad he, and everyone else, didn't feel that way BEFORE that game. If people can't get it by now that talent alone will only take you soo far, then they will never get it. You have to have heart, desire, leadership, and a refuse to lose attitude to go with that talent in order to reach and win a superbowl. This team is seriously lacking in all those things and it has played out at the end of the year for 4-5 years now. I can't believe noone else can see it and Crayton's comment is a perfect illustration! They got a little better last year but they have a long way to go to get there!

You and me both. And as far as skins on the wall, I think he contributes enough to give his opinion when asked.

Quite the contrary. I think it means they did prepare, thus the disbelief when they were overwhelmed by the Vikes. You realize a team can have a bad game at the wrong time don't you? I bet San Diego wishes they could have that Jets game back.

He specifically says they got complacent after the playoff win. That word is on the opposite end of the spectrum from a team preparing to win a championship. Bad game? Sure, but 5 years in row to end the season? If you're happy with embarrassing loses to end every season then thats you're deal. Me, I want more. Especially from what I consider to be one of the more talented teams in the league. If they had one or two real leaders in that lockeroom and a real leader as a head coach, I think this team would be a champion. Without those, it will continue to come up short every year even after so called good seasons.

I will say this Cowboy22...A way of seeing something often limits you from seeing another viewpoint. At first I thought you were overreacting to the interview, but you definitely have legitimate and valid reasons for feeling the way that you do, and you present a compelling argument.

I do feel that you place a little too much blame on crayton and jerry though. They werent the one blocking, or rather, not blocking Allen, and the to Williams.

I don't blame Crayton or Jerry at all. Its the whole team, from Phillips on down. They simply have not figured out how to win when it counts yet and I attribute that to a lack of leadership and heart. Brooking helped and they may be on the right track but at this pace, the team will be too old when they finally get it. They have the talent to win it all but they lack all the intangibles. I like Phillips but a team will never win a superbowl under him. He knows his defensive X's and O's but he is not a leader of men. He does not inspire greatness, in fact, if you listen to him, he excuses failure all the time. That will not get anyone to overcome adversity.

See this is where i disagree. I think Wade gets too much blame. Phillips has no say so. Its hard for anyone to put a stamp on something when you have 3 chiefs. You add a safety to the mix, Phillips would have put together a very good defense. A defense that can win a championship.

Hey Zeus! You would think you guys would actually READ rather than see "Patrick Crayton" and start overreacting.

When you THINK something versus KNOW something, that implies that you are sharing something called AN OPINION. OPINION is like the antonym of FACT.
