Best way to win a Superbowl is to to stay competitive enough to take advantage of it when you get the breaks. That means address the pass rush, don't overextend on risky contracts, and fix the depth problem we have at the QB position so that we can remain competitive for a decade. We've got a coach with an eye for talent finally, and a staff that can develop that talent. Let's play to that strength and stay in position to win big games for a decade like the Steelers and the Patriots do (and the Cowboys used to).

Yes. I'll take it.

Like the San Antonioni Spurs!

Breaking up the new Triplets doesn't seem like the best business model.

Because of better drafting, scouting and coaching this team is primed for a nice run. We hardly have any bad contracts left and have plenty of room to take care of our stars. I am confident we can find replacements if we lose any of our mid level FAs in the draft, FA or UDFA.

I have to admit that I was on the "who cares" bandwagon on Murray right after the Green Bay game because of how disappointed I was in the outcome but now that I've come to my senses I've decided that bringing him back is the only logical choice if competing for a Super Bowl in 2015 is the main goal of this franchise. (It should be.)

Many say they worry about the salary cap and the future and I agreed to a certain degree but my thinking has changed on this as well. I don't care. It ain't my money and I'm done worrying about the future. I've thought about the future for the last 14 years and I'm done. I want a Super Bowl and I want it now. I've waited long enough and this team is the best team I've had the pleasure of seeing since 2007 and letting go of such an important piece to it's success would be a mistake in my very humble opinion.

Murray is a great player that happens to be on a team with a great offensive line. Having both is a luxury the team can't afford to lose. This team is in win now mode and having a maybe at such an important position is unacceptable. This offense needs a workhorse back to function and I don't want to see the 2013 Cowboys show up next year because they lack a decent backfield.

So keep the offense together, Jerry. Go all in. Sign Dez and Murray and let's hit the ground running next year! Time is running out and having more room under the cap won't matter at all if the team you put on the field won't be able to compete for the only thing that really matters and that would be a Lombardi.

I understand all that but somehow it seems the offense will figure itself out and frankly I'm more worried about the defense.

If they Cowboys are 100% certain that Murray can replicate his 2014 season, then they would pay him whatever is required. The issue is that regardless of money, the history of RBs with that workload is not good in future seasons.

With the Cowboys OLine, management might feel that other RBs would actually be an upgrade over Murray.

Good luck with that considering the year Murray had.

This defense is still not SB quality. Period.

You can blow a ton of money on Murray, but it still doesn't change that fact.

The question is, if you get a cheap RB that gains 1300 yards instead of 1800 yards, but also can add a pass rusher and/or a quality FS with the saved money, is the team better?

IMO yes.

Last year was a historic year for Murray. He wouldn't have to duplicate it to be worth the money. Anything over 1250 yds and 10 TDs is worth 5-7m

Those are Forsett numbers and he didn't run behind our line. And he played for the minimum.

I want to keep Murray for a number of reasons, but mainly because of the effect that our ball control offense did wonders for this defense. They led the league in TOP. The best defense is a good offense.

I'm not against Murray I'm against high dollar Murray.
I am of the assumption that all big time runners coming
out of college have a good to great work ethic. I'm I wrong?

I said worth, not cost

That kind of production is 'worth' 5-7m in today's market. You might get lucky with a Forsett at the minimum but that doesn't diminish the impact of those kind of stats. Most of the time you are paying for consistency and predictability.

You never know what you are going to get from a rookie and Forsett has been on like 6 teams and has never shown this kind of ability before. Signing guys like that and hoping is no way to build a roster.

Yes really. Look at the past three receiver classes. None of them even compare to last years

2011: Julio Jones, AJ Green, Titus Young, Lenard Hankerson, Austin Pettis, Randal Cobb
2012: Justin Blackmon, Michael Floyd, Kendall Wright, Reuban Randle, AJ Jenkins and Brian Quick
2013: Cordelle Patterson, TWill, Keenan Allen, Robert Woods, Justin Hunter

How many of those guys made an immediate impact or any impact at all on their respective teams like the 2014 class did?

Now you have RBs like Justin Forsett, Legarret Blount and Jeremy Hill being plugged into teams with OLs not even close to being as good as ours and producing for their teams.

2011 - Julio Jones, AJ Green, Randall Cobb is a pretty good top 3 of the class....

Yes he is. He averaged over 5 ypc before this great line was completed. He has battled a few injuries, but his production has been above average throughout.

You do know that he had 897 yds on 164 attempts his rookie year. He had 1121 yds on 217 attempts in 2013. That is better production than last year.
