Or Canadian. Anyways I mean Kellen is a better QB than what we had, 3 year veteran and knows Linehans offense, but let's remember he was a 3rd stringer every year at Detroit for a reason. We were interested in him this passed off season but he resigned with them cause he would be in a competition for the back up spot and well he lost. Let's not let him try to rub anything onto Romo that after his 3rd year he took over, if anything hope he learns from TR and helps him become a better player for us in the near future.

Outside of his head, nothing about Kellen Moore is an NFL QB. He's undersized, he's a lefty in a league where lefty QB's are a dying breed, and he's got a noodle arm and no aspiring physical attributes. But he's managed to stay with the same team for 3 years which is admirable. He can anticipate route breaks and is accurate. You know he's determined and always prepared/preparing bc he wouldn't have made it this far if he wasn't. I can even say he's Tom Brady-like in some qualities. Not to say that he'll ever sniff Brady's greatness, but I'd rather have someone like him around the other guys than Dustin Vaughn. I'm sure Dustin was probably a great locker room guy, but I like QB's to be the smartest guys in the locker room. I can see that in Romo and Moore (and to a lesser extent Weeden, I don't think his football IQ is a direct relation with his ability to play. He knows the game better than Dustin, he just can't play.)

For all of those who have doubts about Kellen.......I can't wait for your apologizies. He's the best prospect we've had since Aikman.

142 TDs in his Collegiate career. Heisman Trophy candidate. Strong, accurate arm. Feet are always moving. Can't run worth a lick but I'm on board! Definitely an upgrade over Weeden and will be an excellent mentor to Showers.

I think I just read that you said he had a "strong" accurate arm.
Must be hallucinating.

Anyway, the kid does have an it factor to him and good intangibles to go with a brain and accuracy.
He knows our offense and has the smarts to play a scout QB. Makes sense.
Good luck to him.

Physically limited smart QB. Garrett obviously likes that sort of guy

Evaluating Cowboys Moves At QB + RB

CHQ predicted the Cowboys would attempt to pull off the unusual move of having two QBs on the practice squad. Good for us - though we didn’t foresee Lions ex Kellen Moore as one of the two.

MOORE TO P-SQUAD:
CHQ predicted the Dallas Cowboys would attempt to pull off the unusual move of having two QBs on the practice squad. Good for us - though we didn’t foresee Lions ex Kellen Moore as one of the two.

Kellen Moore, the 6-0, 200-pound quarterback who was wildly successful at Boise State with a 50-3 mark but never threw a pass with the Detroit Lions, is coming to Dallas.

The Dallas Cowboys, we were told on Friday, planned to keep two QBs on the practice squad. The thinking then: Jameill Showers and Dustin Vaughan.

We were right about the plan … but we (and maybe the Cowboys, too) didn’t know Moore would be on the streets. So he is getting a reunion with offensive coordinator Scott Linehan, his boss in Detroit. And Dallas is getting … what, exactly?

One report says this is about “depth,’’ but in fact, the acquisition of Moore will have little to do with Tony Romo and Brandon Weeden. They’ll be active. He and Showers will not be.

In truth, it’s even difficult to say this is about Moore as a “prospect.’’ One of his great credentials — he finished in the top 10 in the Heisman Trophy voting three times — doesn’t translate here and doesn’t matter here. This will be about the professionalism he will display while running the scout team … and Showers will be invited to do some of the same, though the latter's versatility as a special-teamer will come in handy on the 10-man practice squad in a variety of ways...

If Moore can manage to stick around for a while, I think his biggest contribution will be to help out whoever we draft to be our QB of the future.

I think that it is now safe to assume that Dallas targets a quarterback in next season's off season draft.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Good scout team QB.

I think he brings more system knowledge than physical skill on the practice field. He is left handed and a borderline quality arm, which present challenges for a scout QB. I think what he brings is what Vaughan could not, he can read a defense and that can keep a defense on its toes.

Their moving Showers to WR/safety/special teams.....according to Garrett's presser today. Sounds like Woody Dantzler 2.0:)

Never seen him play, but if he can read anything more than one receiver per play then he's already ahead of Weeden in my book.

If Weeden falters again they will now have someone to replace him as backup.
