he Cowboys' game plan was to keep everything in front of them and not allow the big plays that the Eagles have thrived on this season. By the fourth quarter, Cowboys defenders said they could hear Eagles receivers voicing their frustration at not being able to break free. And it might have been some greediness on coach Andy Reid's part that led to a game-changing interception late in the third quarter.

Leading 13-10, the Eagles got the ball back at their 23-yard line. On first down, wide receiver Jeremy Maclin jogged off the line of scrimmage as if he was going to block before turning on the jets in an attempt to race past the Cowboys' secondary. Safety Ken Hamlin recognized from the start what Maclin was doing, and he shouted to second-year cornerback Mike Jenkins, "Stay back!" That proved to be good advice.

"I knew there was something fishy going on," Jenkins said. "Ken was telling me to get over the top of Maclin, so I started sprinting."

Jenkins matched Maclin step for step and then he undercut the route to pluck the interception. That led to a 33-yard field goal by Nick Folk, tying the score at 13. The Cowboys' defense only allowed one play of more than 25 yards -- and that was a 45-yard screen pass to LeSean McCoy.

Props to the secondary. I was worried about Jax but they pretty much locked him up. That play mentioned by the OP was indeed huge. Jenkins is growing up before our eyes and he will only get better.

Jenkins is physically the best DB we have on ths roster. Newman may(or once did) have better long speed but Jenkins has the better combination of speed, quickness and ball skills. That doesn't necessarily make Jenkins the better player as Newman has the experience and guile of the veteran that he is. But let's just say we're in good shape with Jenkins at CB.

jenkins makes qbs fear throwing to his side.

just don't know why he doesn't trust his speed and leaves such big cushions sometimes.

maybe he's playing zone.

you might want to hold off on the marty b praise, he has done nothing so far in the passing game and keeps dropping balls

He's not a factor yet in the passing game but the 2 tightend formation is on fire!

marty b is having a slump thats for sure, i think he is the kind of player who needs to stay active in a game to have an effect. that one pass is like "wow ball coming my way even tho i'm a beast --drop".. either way he needs to man up and start catching

When Ken Hamlin is the worst person in your secondary, you're in good shape.

The Eagles live and die by the big play. We can do that or we can grind you out. I feel like we're the better team and we're more versatile.

Jenkins is already a beast. Once he reaches his full potential, I don't think there's much question he will be one of the best in the NFL.

I loved the way the secondary played and really have confidence in Jenkins that he will make plays if you go after him.

To be honest, he does that in just about every game and that's why they call him the QB of the secondary. On the strip fumble sack Ratliff had on Ryan in the Atlanta game, if you go back and watch it, you can see Hamlin telling Jenkins the same thing to stay back and sprint back. Sure enough, it was a long ball to Roddy White but Ryan never had a chance to get it up.

I also remember the game in Pitt last year when he called out a run to the left towards the 3 WR bunch set and we stopped it for a 1 yard game. There's also a wired segment he had this year where he calls out a few plays.

I think people are remarkably forgetful sometimes. Remember how we used to get beat over the top all the time? We are actually a very disciplined defense and I don' think we get a lot of credit for that. Fleak flikers and deep balls rarely work on us.

Hamlin definitely has his faults but to appreciate what he has done for this secondary, you need to remember who we had back there before (lynn scott, etc) and remember that we used to ALWAYS get toasted deep.

I agree. Though, right now I'd still give Newman the edge as far as our best CB. He straight shut Jackson down, bro. SHUT HIM DOWN! Also, have you noticed how physical Newman has been this year. That hit on Celek on the sideline was MONSTER. Celek had enough forward progress to get the 1st, but if he would have been 1 foot farther back, Newman would have held him short, because he didn't give Celek one inch after the hit. He's laying people out (hell even causing fumbles). I'm love me some Terrence Newman this year.

Hamlin consistently makes huge plays every game. They just don't go under the INT or FF stat lines.
