Heard on Sirius today that he may have to have knee surgery and may be done for the year. Adam Shein reported. That really hurts their secondary.
Giants' Phillips may be done for season

The Giants are bracing for what would be an incredibly damaging blow to their defense in general and secondary in particular, as second-year safety Kenny Phillips might be lost for the season and headed to injured reserve because of ongoing issues with his left knee.
Phillips is coming off a two interception performance in a victory over the Cowboys and has been managing with his injury, often not practicing during the week and then making his way onto the field on game day. The injury is apparently to the cartilage in his left knee and Tom Coughlin has repeatedly stressed that the injury is something that must be managed.
Phillips did not practice on Wednesday and today was nowhere to be seen at the Giants training complex.
If surgery is required to repair the damage, Phillips would be through for the season. That would be a significant loss, as the Giants are already thin at safety and Phillips is considered to be a rising star. The Giants considered him to be the best safety in the 2008 draft class and took him out of the University of Miami with the 31st pick in last year's NFL Draft.
The Giants opted to go with only three safeties on their roster: Phillips and Michael Johnson as the starters and free agent pickup C.C. Brown in reserve. They would unquestionably have to search for another safety to add to a defensive backfield that has been plagued by injuries. Starting cornerback Aaron Ross will miss his third straight game this Sunday in Tampa because of a strained hamstring. Kevin Dockery missed the first two games with a hamstring injury and could miss a third this weekend.
The Giants have rookie safety Sha'reff Rashad on their practice squad but likely will add a safety with NFL experience, presuming there's one out there worthy of signing.
