How is he recovering from ACL injury sustained 12-30-05 that was Operated on in 2006. I believe that was not the same knee he had scoped earlier in season.

Burnett also blew out a knee/ACL in 2002 at Tennessee. Is that the knee he blew out at end of last year?

Any recovery updates appreciated.

It sucks this happened so late in the year last season. Doubt he'll be at full speed come September.

I was under the impression that is was not a terrible knee injury and he is doing great......from reading somewhere.

I'm not happy with Burnett at all. He seems way too injury prone (and is a 49er fan :( to boot) and seems a bit small and confused.

Really, was it an MCL and not an ACL ? ACL ushally take over a year to get back to full speed ?

Jarv:

I know - having that operation in January puts him at well below 100% going into training camp 6 1/2 months later. Luckily we can PUP him and have him ready midseason if need be.

Akin signing a good start. With Dat, Fujita gone and Als shaky future it behooves us to sign another Vet LB and look at OLB in draft early Day 1 and also ILB day 2.

McGinnest FA

Carpenter/Wimbley/Lawson
Schlegel day 2 in draft

He should be ready to go in Sept. That would be a full 9 months of recovery. I'd expect he'll likely be cleared to go in TC.

The sergury and rehab methods have improved to the point that coming back from them is usually a much faster process than it used to be but still it is close to a year so I do not expect much from Burnett this year. He is not looking like such a good pick now and I have never been all that sure about him from the start.

I think that should be the plan going forward. I'd consider Dobbins and Parham on Day 2 as well.

6-8 months is what you usually hear these days on that sort of recovery - 1 year is totally extreme. Burnett is young and has rehabbed a knee before so that suggests it would be closer to 6 than 8.

I think the 1 year refers to when the ACL is completely healed -- rehab methods focus on strengthening various muscles to offset this. There are tons of guys with late season ACL injuries who have come back for TC. He might PuP early but he won't miss any games.

Ask Drew Rosenhaus - Willis McGahee will be 100% to start season - no problem!

The staff must've been concerned about Burnett's knee because I'm pretty certain they signed Ayodele to play ILB next season.

Dallas has had awful luck with keeping their 2nd round picks healthy in the Parcells era:

- Al Johnson

- Julius Jones

- Jacob Rogers

- Kevin Burnett

McGahee is a RB who tore his ACL, MCL, and PCL. His injury was described as "gruesome" and "career threatening"

Burnett has a "simple" ACL tear. Different types of injury.
