I don't know much about it but if he was any good, why did Detroit just cut him? Has he done any better than Julius did?

Just wonderin'.

He's battled a foot and a leg injury in recent year's. Not sure he's completely healthy yet.

I doubt we'll go after him but I think he could be a very good backup for Barber, better than Julius. He did only have 3.8 YPC last year but Detroit's run blocking was ranked 29th in 2007. Kevin J had a 10% higher success rate than Julius last season despite Dallas' run blocking being ranked 17th spots higher than Detroit's. I wouldn't be upset at all if we picked him up, in fact I'd think it was a really good pick up.

if healthy, he'd compliment barber well.

If I recall, he was the RB we were targeting after passing on Stephen Jackson but Detroit selected him ahead of us after we traded down.

I would not mind bringing him in to back up Barber but he has struggle with some nagging injuries the last couple of years so I wouldn't want to have to use him as a full time starter. He is a pretty good receiver though so I'd give him a shot if he came cheaply enough.

I don't believe teams can't cut players for being injured. At least without some kind of injury sttlement.

Besides, if he were that good when healthy, then why wouldn't Detroit give him time to get healthy?

Unless of course they don't think he will ever be completely healthy, in which case why would we want him?

The fact is though that he came back pretty early in the 2007 season, and though he didn't jump in and carry the load right away, he did work up to that and got through the season.

When he is healthy he is a very dangerous player; he had 1,000 yard season (though that was ages ago) and he is a duel threat ( is a very good catcher out of the backfield) but he seems like he is always injured.

IF he is healthy he is worth looking at but at this point I think he is going to be injury prone for his career.

Julius also had a 1,000 season. If that's the standard why didn't we keep the 1,000 yard rusher we had?

I don't think he's what the Jones' were thinking about. However, he'd be a great compliment to MB III when healthy.

1. Speed
2. Vision
3. Strength. Doesn't fall down with arm tackles
4. Experience playing in the NFL over draft day rookies

This all seems like a big overestimation. He has not been a consistent impact player in Detroit even when healthy, and Detroit didn't consider him worth keeping.

He's like Julius - he seems to have the tools and ocassionally has the kind of game that makes you drool, but the overall body of work tells you something is missing.

I agree. What makes any player great is consistentcy which is some Kevin Jones has never shown in the NFL just like Ju Jones never could show it week to week.

As the sidekick/backup to Barber, this would be alright in a cinch- more than alright if you ask me. If he wasn't taking the majority of the reps possibly the injury proneness could be a thing of the past.

Kevin Jones sucks.

:laugh2:

Tell us how you really feel!

It would be a waste of money, IMO. Let's get Barber's backup in the draft.
