If the Cowboys can become more productive in the running game, this team will easily become an elite team.

I read in another topic that Madden thinks that Parcells is dissapointed in the running game. i disagree. We're running the ball about as well as Parcells ever has with the combination of Jones and Barber.

I would though like to see Jones running better. If he can become more consistent and more catalytic with his runs, especially early on in games it will set the cowboys apart from most teams in the nfl.

One thing that is clear is that Parcells is resting Jones quite a bit. He isn't getting anywhere near the amount of carries he used to. He said he wanted it to be 2:1 or even closer to 1:1 between Jones and Barber. I think the type of football we play in the playoffs is going to be even more impressive than what we're doing now. Especially if we can get a top seed.

I agree w/ Madden. I think "resting Jones" is for public consumption. I think BP thought Julius would be much more productive than he has been. I know I did...

Did he say he thought BP was disappointed or just that he wished he was getting a lil more out of the running game? In other words he prolly feels about like you do.. like to see Jones running better.

And why not. While our system is working pretty good right now just imagine how much better we'd stand to be if we had a top flight RB. Right now we just kinda hope the running game clicks well in any particular game. Be kinda nice if we always just more or less knew it would.

Actually I do think Parcells is using Jones & Barber as he always intended. But I also believe Madden is right that Parcells expected more from Jones then what he's getting. While we have 2 pretty gold RBs, we don't have a killer RB and that's what most of us were expecting based on Jones' performance last half of his rookie year. What ever happened to that guy? Simply don't believe Parcells prefers the current Jones over what he got from Jones a few years ago.

I do believe our OL is barely adequate. Gurode, Kosier & Colombo make mistakes but have performed better then Riveria & Adams. Frankly if we don't make/win the SB this year, I'd hope Cowboys take necessary steps to upgrade our OL & add 2-3 more defensive players.

Our line has actually been pretty good.

The only difference between Jones' performance now and his rookie year is that he isn't getting 30 carries per game...

I think BP will give JJ more carries now that it is late in the season and he no longer has to save him up. Looking at his top games, a fair amount of his yds came after his 20th carry. Also they came on draws on 3rd down; which he is not getting now. If JJ was getting that now, I am willing to be he wouldhave 2-300 more yds total by now. And he would be in the top 5 in the NFL. WAY ABOVE AVERAGE.

JJ has good numbers but he would have very good numbers if he was the featured back. We have a good two back system right now.

Well for lack of carries or otherwise the fact is over his last 6 games Jones has a very Hambrick like 3.42 yards per carry.

Fact is that our O line is a lot better at pass blocking. Fact is that JJ is getting most of his carries on first and second downs early in the game when the D is fresh.

So that automatically precludes him from ever making a guy or two miss, busting 15-20 yard runs and padding the YPC stats?

Early in the year the numbers were better. 20/94, 22/106, 23/122. Lately it's been 20/73, 22/79, 24/92.

I'm not saying it's all on him or the guys sucks.. I'm just saying if some people are a lil disappointed at the moment it's understandable.

the oline is filled with a bunch of "wallers"... in other words they dont move people out of the way and create natural holes, they just get in the way... LA is sorely missed by JuJo, because he is very good at finding a hole but not very good at breaking tackles in the second level and the secondary!!!

I watched a play where KK pulled and hit the LB but the LB stayed on his feet and helped on the tackle after a short gain... this is killin JuJo! JuJo's rookie year had some drive blockers that would allow him to come out of the hole at full speed!!!

Flo's injury has reduced him to a waller as well!!! Last year Gurode played OG and JuJo went off v. carolina... Gurode when not playing center is the best drive blocker on the team who can create natural holes in a D even if the play is designed to go the other side! In fact Gurode may be our best drive Blocker even from the center position and thats not what you should want!!!

this team is stuck with KK and Rivera this year but next year KK needs to be a back-up and Rivera needs to go back to Green Bay!

this team puts together a real line in the offseason with guys like KK as back ups... this team will cruise next year!!!

You gotta be kidding. BP isn't disappointed in Jones' numbers. Given the limited number of carries compared to the leagues elite RB's and the status of our O-line (especially early this year) the numbers Jones is putting up is right what most should expect.

Madden kind of lost me when he went on to say...
"You can take the kitchen sink and throw it but you'll never have enough kitchen sinks unless you have enough Jake Plummers. You know? Take all that stuff and... You know?"

Looks a lot better now because of Romo being the starter...

This time of the year is when the running game needs to grow some real teeth.

He would already be over 1,000 yards if he was the featured back.
