At this point. We all know what is going to happen. This team will beat up on the bad teams and Jerry will spin it. However all that is going to do is mess with the draft position. This team as constructed is not built to compete against good teams, forget about the playoffs. However. This team will play all their starters until they are mathematically eliminated. Its the Jerry way. You will soon here the path to the playoffs is winning the division. However. That is bad for the future. We are stuck with Dak now. So no point in beating that dead horse.

Instead. What this team needs to start doing is jettisoning veterans for draft capital and clearing cap space.

Trade Martin. While he hasn't been great this year, he is still a HOF RG. And teams need that.
Trade D-Law. No point in his contract being on the books next year.
Trade Diggs. Not sure the contract implications on the cap but I don't want to see his face anymore.

Start amassing draft capital for the new head coach and his staff.

Jerry needs to step down. Either give the keys to Stephen or appoint a GM. Its time.

A successful season at this point is this coaching staff ALL being let go. With a culture changing head coach coming in with high draft picks. Unfortunately this team will never hire a young innovated Ben Johnson type. So they need an authoritarian with Jerry stepping out of the way. That to me now is a successful season.

Okay you make some good points…

But Jerry (football) will never step down…
So the best we can hope for is watching him choke on the olive in his drink or him having a massive coronary on national tv.

I wouldn’t wish this on anyone but hell it’s Jerry and it’ll be more entertaining than the crap on the field

You can’t trade Martin. No one’s trading for a guy who’s done
Dlaw might be an option if he was healthy but he’s not
Diggs is an option but then you pay bland Diggs money so it doesn’t help cap wise but could add a valuable pick

Martin is still good, I’m guessing he’s hurting a bit. But that does not make you wrong, he doesn’t have a lot of value at this point in his career

Micah should be dealt. He’s the obvious one. It won’t happen, but it would with a good GM. A lot of GMs will drool over his abilities and give up a lot to get him, while the smart GM knows he’s parting ways with more of a ‘me’ guy.

Any plan to fix the Cowboys, that doesn’t include a big trade for draft capitol for Parsons, is a half-measure plan at best

Jerry doesn't trade handpickeds like Micah. He'll get his most in history contract.. or close enough.

The key for me was before the draft I wanted to trade:

Lamb and Parsons for a stockpile of picks. Don’t resign dak, and roll with Lance. Having a bunch of draft picks and cap space would be enticing for the next head coach and staff, instead we go with more of the same

Key: Not getting happy if the Cowboys win a few games, causing you as a fan to believe in this team again, only for them to let you down!!

Priority move # 1.......

Trade Prestrash for 10 cents on the dollar..............cause you're going to have to eat some contract cash for any team to possibly want him.

In the end, we will still come out ahead in the big NFL trash bin of life!!

D law has minimal value to anyone. getting a 6th would be a steal. why? he is often injured and has minimal impact outside of run defense and contending teams want pass rushers. he also has one year left on his contract.
not sure if Martin can be traded for anything more than a 5th and he is not key to a superbowl run for any contending team. usually teams trade DEs, DTs, CBs and WRs and maybe RBs....a team building next season may go for martin, but not mid season, unless there is injury to the position for a contending team and the back up is not adequate. also, the dead cap is huge for the cowboys and jerry would never ever go for it. he hates dead cap money, so martin is here through 2025.

Now, diggs, may bring some value. reasonable dead cap. and has several years left on his contract. but he is top 5 in jersey sales for cowboys and Jerry won't get rid of him because of that.

Lawrence's cap hit is like 8 million next year. Thats pocket change for a defensive end.

Trading Martin would be nice if we could get something decent for him. But if he is not good enough for a team with a weak line to keep, you cant expect anyone else value him enough to be worthwhile

Martin is considering retirement which guts what value he has. The most obvious is one of bland/diggs. You really can’t have 2 very high paid CB. Micah would get you the most but he’s also the hardest to replace. One factor is when you can move on from Dak. You don’t want to go all in on a QB until you can move on from Dak which to me seems most logical after next year when you’d owe him for only one season going forward. I’d move Martin today if I could get a pick for him, even a 3rd or 4th round pick. Bass and Hoffman can play guard and probably not much drop off but I don’t see anyone doing that deal
