Besides the Cowboys, check out how many other teams that are showing interest in this RFA.
Anyone know anything about this FB?

http://www.kffl.com/hotw/nfl

Info is scarce on this guy, but I did find this morsel....

News: Restricted free agent FB Vonta Leach visited the Giants on Wednesday.
Impact: Leach, a pure lead-blocking type, has also drawn interest from Arizona. (Wed. Mar 14, 2007)

Was he the starting FB for the Texans? Havent had a decent blocking FFB since the Moose, even though we thought we had one in Jamar Martin.....bust. Looks like Wade wants to find his Michael Turner,,hopefully Leach, if we do sign him, can fill the role.

Cards sign special teamer Morey

Darren Urban, Tribune

The Cardinals signed a special teams ace Thursday, and continued their quest to find a blocking fullback.

The team signed wide receiver Sean Morey to a three-year contract, after Morey played for Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt the past three seasons in Pittsburgh.

Morey had a team-best 21 special-teams tackles for the Steelers last season. That will be his job in Arizona, since the 5-foot-11, 200-pounder has just three NFL receptions despite entering the NFL in 1999.

“After I signed, the courting was over and Whiz brought me back down to earth,” Morey said. “I know my role to be a receiver is to be prepared. ... (Whisenhunt) set me straight, let’s put it that way. I know my role.”

The team is also talking to former Arizona State fullback Terrelle Smith, who was cut by Cleveland Wednesday.

Smith’s agent, Ryan Tollner, said he has had “preliminary discussions” with the Cardinals, and that the Cards had also been talking to Cleveland about trading for Smith prior to Smith’s release.

Multiple teams — including Green Bay, Kansas City and Tampa Bay — had been interested in trading for Smith and are eying Smith as a free agent. Tollner said he was in the process of figuring out a visitation schedule for his client.

Ralph Vitolo, the agent for restricted free agent fullback Vonta Leach, said he had not talked much with the Cardinals in the past week after Leach’s visit with the team. Vitolo said Leach has visited Cleveland and the New York Giants and could also visit Dallas. The Giants have put a “nice” offer on the table for Leach, Vitolo said.

The Cards have also had preliminary discussions with the agent of former Cards fullback James Hodgins, who is also a free agent.

I get the feeling we are going to look for a more versatile FB in free agency or the draft and Hoyte will be moving back to ILB for depth purposes.

Seems like Wade is looking for a "Lorenzo Neal type" hammer at fullback.

Good.

So am I.

I was sorry to hear Parcells was trying to phase out the position last year.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I would as soon save the money it would cost and keep developing Hoyte.

Or if we want to draft one, there are several. You might not even have to draft one at any rate.

Cory Anderson is a brute. Rashon Vercher of Fresno State is a nice blocker.

I like Hoyte -- I think he can make this team and largely fill the hole Fowler leaves on ST. However, when I see Hoyte, I am eerily reminded of Robert Thomas -- so far their careers are identical -- the early success moving from LB -- the cries of "finally we've got another Moose!" -- the steady decline in their blocking over the course of the season.....
