I am really wondering at that. Clearly only a shoe failure could let that happen- and I thought that football shoes are pretty tough.

It happened to me my senior year of HS. Funny thing though, I have no earthly idea how. I remember jamming it against someone elses foot, but i didn't think much of it. Much to my dismay when I finally managed to get my sock off, the damn nail was only haning on by about 1 cm of tissue. I just don't understand how the nail actually gets torn off when it's inside a shoe. Doesn't make much sense, but it definitely happens. Even without shoe failure. Hurt like hell for a few hours, but wasn't much of a problem after a day or so...it just feels wierd.
