They are consistently bringing it back past the 35. That will not work during the regular season.

We keep hearing no big deal about keeping all of these linebackers because they make great special teams players...I'm not seeing it tonight. Also the Colts kickoff return guy is FAST.

I want to believe it's because we don't have everyone in place, but i'm a tad concerned.. Let me get through 2 more games, then i'll start to panic.

Say what you will about Parcells, but his special teams (kickers notwithstanding) was always outstanding.

Wade just commented on the kickoff coverage. He said they were looking at several guys and will look at the tape to see who played well. I did notice that Deon Anderson was laying the wood a couple of times.

Who's coaching special teams this season anyway?

Bruce Read. I think he was at Oregon State last year. The kickoff coverage was one of the few negatives I saw tonight. Hopefully we'll get it fixed before the games count.

In the first preseason game they are just throwing people out there. I expect kickoff coverage (and all of ST) to be much better by the time the season rolls around and they have some idea of who will be settled into those rolls.

Whoever is coaching ST this year has to be...HAS TO BE...better than DeHaven was. Our ST's have sucked for years now.

Sorry but our coverage teams have been quuite good. Our PK have been problematic and our PR pedestriam but the units i have to disagree as a whole.

I saw #40 run way around blocks on a couple of the bigger returns. This created the big seams for the return man. He wasn't the only problem, but he did a poor job. You don't always have to run right at the blockers, but you can't run so far around them that you create big open spaces.

The kick offs were inconsistent. The deep kicks were very low and had little hang time, which gives the return man time to get going before the coverage team gets down the field. The shortest kick, by Folk had lots of hang time and was stopped for a short gain. Unfortunately that was around the 30 yard line. They need to work on deep, high hanging kicks.

Many of the guys who were on special teams last night are guys trying to make the team. I think you will see better from the coverage units once the roster players are established.
