Alright, snowy day here, waiting for the senior bowl to start and so messed around a bit and ended up with this mock. Used the CBS Sportsline player rankings as a way to not be able to take all (or even most!) of the players I want. I would have liked to work in an offensive linemen.
1 Cody Prewitt, FS, Ole Miss
By drafting Prewitt the Cowboys continue their recent tradition of drafting the Best Player at Position, even if it means the pick will be considered a reach by some (this is a potential trade down scenario but I didn't want to get into predicting trades). More importantly they fill the long-standing void at free safety.
2 Preston Smith, DE, Mississippi State
Smith is an athletic, productive player (15 TFLs, 9 sacks, 2 INT, 2 FF, 3 PBU, 2 blocked kicks) who would fit in well as the strong side end.
3 David Cobb, RB, Minnesota
One of the best all-around, three-down backs available in this draft, capable of stepping in and filling the DeMarco Murray role (but hopefully he splits more of the touches).
4 Eric Rowe, DB, Utah
Rowe offers the versatility of being able to play both CB and S, improving the depth at both positions, and hopefully challenging for a starting CB role in year two.
5 Nick Marshall, CB, Auburn
A project worth taking a flyer on.
6 Derrick Lott, DT, Chattanooga
Former Georgia Bulldog, showed up well at the East-West Shrine Game, not only displaying power and flashing some quickness but making plays on special teams as well.
7a DeAndre Carter, WR, Sacramento State
Could be a good option in the slot in five-receiver sets as well as take on the return duties if Dwayne Harris isn't re-signed.
7b Cameron Lynch, LB, Syracuse
A captain at Syracuse, had a solid week of practice at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, undersized but fits Rod Marinelli's scheme.
