Desmond King all the way. The Cowboys seem to like drafting players from the Big Ten too

name the really good DE's

Agreed. This DE class goes 4, maybe 5, deep with upper tier prospects. Garrett and Allen we have 0% chance at, Thomas and Barnett we hope 1 falls but doesn't seem likely at this point, and that leaves Taco as the 5th guy who is debatably 1st round worthy that could be there. Don't get me wrong, of course there's still other guys who could turn into good players later but I don't see this DE class as obviously deep, at all.

You forgot Charles Harris and obviously McKinley. We probably don't get any of them though. Maybe we should corner the DT market (shrugs). Collins was a first round talent..........Brantley and Jaleel Johnson are as well.

Since we'll be picking some where in the #27-#32 range, I think I'd run to the podium to draft the following DEs

-Myles Garrett
-Jonathan Allen
-Solomon Thomas
-Takkarist McKinley
-Taco Charlton
-Dereck Barnett
-Charles Harris
-Jordan Willis
-Carl Lawson
-Demarcus Walker

And Tim Williams, who I'd stay away from due to off the field issues, likely will push a few DEs down further. Good chance TJ Watt is in that mix as well.

If you're looking for a guy who will put up 10 sacks as a rookie, I agree they will be gone by the late 20s, however I think several guys who in other drafts could have gone in the early 20s will be there when we pick.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I wouldn't touch either in the 1st round as a 4-3 team.

Agreed, we need to start/continue adding talent at the position. I there should be a few DEs of Emanuel Ogbah's ability where we'll be drafting.

Too small. Just like our WR's, we like big corners.

I'm kinda butthurt Harold Landry stayed in school. Makes sense with the DE class this year, he improves and he's probably a top 20 pick next year, but still. One of the guys I liked at our pick.

I was planning on starting a Hot Takes thread and Desmond King was one of mine; a lot of folks think he's a 1st rounder, but I think he goes 3rd-4th round.

exactly, In 2016 Emmanuel Ogbah went 32nd and was the 5th DE/OLB taken, and that includes Deforest Buckner (since I am including Jonathan Allen). In 2015 Preston Smith was the 6th DE/OLB taken (I include Leonard Williams but not Arik Armstead, I think he is 3-4 only) at #38. In 2014 DeMarcus Lawrence was the 5th DE/OLB taken at #34. If the trends from the last few years hold true, I'll gladly take the 5th, 6th or 7th best DE/OLB prospect.

Ditto. My new DE favorite is Tanoh Kpassagnon in the second. I imagine he'll shoot up the boards some post-combine, though.

The guy I'm looking at that I think could realistically be at our spot in the 1st round and that offers the most ready-to-play now ability/development potential ratio is Taco Charlton from Michigan. He reminds me a lot of Jason Pierre Paul coming out of South Florida; lanky but well put together and very athletic for the position.
